We tried wearing them again once as a throwback uni, I believe during the Ainge era, but either the NCAA, the SEC, or both, would not allow ithem. Claiming that there was too much orange and not enough white for a road jersey.
Tbh I prefer our originals. However, I do like both of these options. Doesn't mean I'd prefer them over the originals, but anything that excites kids/recruits, I'm fine with. If it can somehow help us land a couple of better recruits simply because of "style points", then I'm ok with it.
I didn't hate the smokey grays we used to wear, but thought they could have been done better. Especially the Nike ones. If we're going to incorporate that color, let's do so in the shoes. Orange jersey, white pants, smokey gray shoes with orange/white trim. Those shoes would even look sharp with stormtrooper unis or with orange pants.
I understand the black jersey, which is fine if it's done right, but only on the rarest of occasions. And definitely not for a big game.
I'd like to see the seniors pick a uniform for one game per year as a token for those who stick it out. We'd likely end up with some or all of the options out there at some point in time, it can't hurt IMO.
