This sums us up every year

We had a lot of good looks in 2nd half, hope those same shots fall in March - if so, this program will reach new heights, if not, it’ll be another woulda shoulda coulda year.

Yep Tennessee looks flawed offensively even with new highly productive offensive players brought in.

Over a 17:56 stretch on each side of the half, Tennessee made only two field goals— an Awaka baby hook and the previously mentioned Zeigler triple
Purdue had something to do with this. I think two things...first of all I think the refs called maybe one of the worst games I've ever seen. But, I do think Barnes game plan, knowing we were going to get fouls in the post, was to play really physical and lean on our depth. Many calls that I thought were BS, when seeing replay was actually a foul. Purdue matched our physical play and refs decided to call any foul where someone breathed on the other player. Part of going scoreless was not being in sync for being on the floor. Part was a bad shooting night...part was good Purdue D, and maybe players being gassed playing physical on the other end of the floor. Purdue scouted Knecht well... when he'd try to split defenders to the basket, they collapsed down and got hands on the ball to disrupt his motion or created turnovers, and think that got him out of sync some.

We'll get another great opportunity today!

So Purdue, who is #2 in the country and has the POY, looks flawed offensively as well, right? As Matt Painter said, that game could have gone either way.
No. Most teams don't look good offensively when they play Tennessee because of Tennessee's D so that's understandable. Tennessee shot 40% against Cuse and 33% against Purdue. It looks like the same offensive struggles they have every year.

I guess other teams aren’t allowed to be good defensively? Purdue is a top 10 defensive team in the nation

Hard to establish anything in a game like that. Refs lost control, no one knew what was allowed or not from one possession to the next.

Didn't help matters that our shooters went Ice Age cold and tended to get sloppy on the offensive end.

Neither team could get into an offensive rhythm due to the refs over zealous officiating. Took the game completely out of the players hands. Those officials should go back to the Y league where they apparently came from.

Ironically, our 3pt % against Syracuse is 2nd highest 3pt% so far in the tourney. Also, here are the other 3pt% from the last 2 days organized by school (1st game / 2nd game):

Tennessee: 35.7% / 26.7%

Purdue: 23.5% / 26.7%

Kansas: 21.1% / 35.3%

Marquette: 32.4% / 24%

Gonzaga: 18.8% / 35%

UCLA: 38.5% / 31.8%

Syracuse: 30% / 12.5%

So, to follow our logic here, TN, Purdue, Kansas, Marquette, Gonzaga, and Syracuse all have major offensive issues.... /s
