This says so much, (off season observation)

I agree, it sounds better coming from Pruitt. But, let's be honest, if Butch said we needed better body language, he'd be roasted...guess who and how the message is delivered matters!

in merit i agree with that, but i don't think you'd of gotten that level of honesty about it from CBJ. you think about the way he said what he said, no way that every comes out of CBJ's mouth.

and i think more than anything, it's probably a reflection on the players' part about a) how last year finished, and b) probably realizing after their 1st live session, just how far they have to go.

only way to go is up. and should build a sense of urgency for the rest of spring....voluntary summer work outs/practice, and fall camp.

at least the coaches know what they have, or what they don't have as the case may be, to work with.

Nah. He’s just getting the market value for the job he’s doing. Mike Locksley was making the same as Butch his first year at Bama as an offensive assistant, and now he’s making much more as their OC.

Butch is a bad HC and all. I’ve been as big of a critic of him as anybody these past 2-3 years. But he’s taking a job with such a low salary purposely in order to stick it to UT and get as much buyout money as he can (while also having an opportunity to learn from the best in the business) IMO.

He is taking a job with a low salary because that was all there was available to him. Why would he want to stick it to UT when they made him a multi-millionaire?

I highly, highly doubt he couldn't have gotten a job as a WR coach or maybe ST coach or something somewhere or another if he'd gone after it. Worse coaches have landed decent gigs as position coaches. As terrible of a HC as I think Butch is, I think he'd probably make a pretty good ST coordinator if he was willing to lower himself to that job.

But taking the Bama job sets him up to do a bit of image repair under Saban while still getting that 2.5 million/year from UT.

I just hope I don't have to see our linemen, on the field during TV time outs dancing to the piped in music. Lets you know exactly where their mind is at.... of course then we have a false start penalty....

My ole HS Coach was one of the flaming Sophomores under Neyland. He ask me once what I thought College Coaches looked for in recruits..A guy who gets knocked down and just lays there or a guy who gets knocked down gets up and makes a tackle? The answer is the guy who's doing the knocking! This is the kind of body language CJP is talking about.

Says a lot too that Saban is paying him less than a school teacher. Tells me that Butch called and begged for any job Saban could make for him.

Butch didn’t call Saban, Jimmy Sexton did. Saban just doing their shared agent a solid until Sexton can get Jones a job at Western Idaho State or some such place and get him the hell out of Saban’s facility.
