This Peyton pulling for Texas thing…

Hehehehe. Not really the human condition in "civilized" society anymore. We take what's offered rather than seek food or gather.

Our benevolent corporate overlords give us the choice between Walmart, Kroger, Publix, etc but it's really not much variation for most of us.

We eat, work, watch, etc what "The Man" provides.

Fortunately for me, I still embody the line from "Country Boy Can Survive". I can skin a buck, or run a trot line. I can grow, raise, catch, or kill what I need to survive.

Getting old, though. And then there's the constant need for hot sauce, so...

Winn-Dixie it is.

;)

Yeah, even the small farm types are at the mercy of John Deere or Case for equipment and certainly at the mercy of Bayer or whatever DuPont became for seeds.

Those of us in the city are really just fooling ourselves also that it's Lowes, Home Depot, Ace or Harbor Freight if we "want to get our hands dirty."

We're the cog in the machine..... and my teeth are getting thinner everyday. I doubt I survive the maintenance overhaul.

Why don't you call him and tell him how you feel?

Oh, that's right, you're not a friend of his and your opinion means zero to him.

Lemme ask you, if you had a nephew who was extremely talented at football but made the regrettable decision to play at Bama, would you take his offer to walk on the sidelines at Neyland on the Bama side or is Orange thicker than blood in your life?
I would not walk on the Bama sideline for any nephew. My son on the other hand, would never make that choice to play there because I raised him to hate Bama

At this point, this belongs in a different thread. Maybe it already exists. But I have spent the last 20 years laying in the things I would need to survive if the grid collapsed.

Short of an armored bunker, I'm there.

Where's that thread? I'd love to see if I did it right.

Go Vols.

Family comes before sports so I can't blame him. Honestly, fans get unhealthy about their teams. When you start hating opposing fans instead of testing with them, it goes too far.
One of the reasons I hate Bama so much besides the obvious is how I used to have fun teasing and doing a back and forth with family who pulls for Bama. They are not bandwagon but it is more important to them than family. I was at the dentist getting something done and posted a vid with a tooth missing and saying this may happen if you become a BANDWAGON Bama fan. They are not bandwagon fans and my other Bama friends thought it was hilarious with me saying Roll Tide like an ignorant toothless bumpkin. They got offended and could not believe I posted it. They will not speak to me unless I apologize. it has been almost 15 years now. I just can't do it. I love teasing and having fun with sports. They think of Bama more than relationships. It has made me hate them more than just football because so many of their fans are just like this. Bear also screwed and lied to Bobby Dodd so for me, my hate is warranted.

We are herd animals, despite how we crow about our "maverick" and "lone wolf" and "independent" traits, and a human seen as a leader breaking from the pack is disturbing to the herd, even if it's only for a moment.

At the core, socially, we're only slightly more sophisticated than a herd of cattle and, these days, just as docile to the whims of our handlers.
Don't underestimate cattle, they always seem to find a hole in the fence so they can get out. And really, isn't survival what life boils down to? They sure seemed to have their priorities straight on our farm:)

Corporations have monopolized what the lord provided for us so that they may mascaraed as provider. Shows who the stock market serves..

I feel for you. My experience is limited to many years ago but my grandpa's cattle always seemed to get out and then raise a ruckus because they couldn't get back in.

If I had a dollar for every time I've metaphorically done the same thing as those cattle, I'd fund our NIL and have my name on a building on campus.

Big, dumb, and prone to going where I shouldn't be. Moooooo.

Getting back to topic, Peyton answered thoughtfully, didn't duck the question, and showed his heart is TN Orange but still pumps red Manning blood. Good on him.

All families are different and unique with all sorts of variables. Everyone can do what they want. Personally, I am unabashedly going to pull for my alma mater. Depending on which relative, I may want them to do well or get knocked out of the game but in either case, pulling for my alma mater to win.

1. He will wear orange/white
2. He’ll spend time on both sidelines
3. He will be spotted talking to MM
I honestly don’t care either. He’s supported Tennessee for decades and will continue to. One game of supporting his nephew doesn’t change anything. Now if Arch performs well but we still win the game, then win/win.
Blood is blood.

Yup, I told my kids something like, you can try to get in wherever ya like for college, but if it's Bama or Florida, don't expect any support of that from me. 🤨🤷

I'm just glad Peyton gave us $7m. Rest of the Manning family has barely given anything back to their respective Universities in comparison. I'd say we are living high off the hog when you look at it that way.

And everyone on here bleeds orange.
It's pretty easy for us to "bleed orange" and claim high ground when few here have ever tapped the sign, actually bled on Shields Watkins, put a single drop of sweat on the floor of the weight room, etc.

Screaming in the stands and swilling beer in my La-z-boy ain't exactly a high bar.

That applied to me when I was a kid.. Are you still someone’s dependent?

I have to work pretty hard to be able to go to the games and things have to be put on hold to go, also. Yet I pay for the tickets.. I’ve never heard of someone playing in the NFL, hoping to get a call to return to the workforce!

Manning has given more than 99.999% of this board during his playing time here and afterwards. He’s supported the program as a player, alumni and booster. He will likely be rooting for Tennessee regardless and also hoping his nephew has a good game as well. Anything else he does is his business.
