But I would rather lose with Phil Fulmer than win with Les Miles. Give me a few days to get over my angst and maybe I change my mind, but Les Miles is such a completely classless, nasty, and childish buffoon that I dont think even winning is enough for me to stomach that jerk. Im all about winning, almost at any cost, but the more I see of Miles the more I want to vomit. I saw a montage of his interviews, press confs, etc and he is a nasty jerk. If Im a parent of a blure chip 5* kid, no way does my son play for that jacka**. I also heard a rumor that Carr, a coach with integrity and class, vetoed Miles going to UM. If that's true, then my hats off to Coach Carr.

I heard something similar about the Michigan job situation but not so bluntly put. As for the blue chippers, he is in a talent rich area at a program with a rabid fanbase. They will get their share and then some so long as they keep winning.

I dont really expect most people in Louisana to let class factor into their decision, but as for my opinion, Miles is an embarassment. At least Phil, for all his issues, reps the university ant the state very well. Also, Phil, please, please, please, win the bowl game. I am so tired of ending the year on a negative note. Last year hurt all summer.

rex, there are some people who think a good representative of the program/university/state (and the hfc at UTK does represent all 3 of those at times) should be an articulate, media savvy person with an exemplary personal appearance. I think those attributes are particularly important if you're not delivering championships with any regularity.

I agree Rex. Miles would never see my son, I dont care where he coached at. If Carr did vetoed Miles good for him, i would have done the same.

Really? We couldn't tell :)

I don't know if Miles is really a jerk or if he's just too stupid to realize he's being one. But either way, I agree with what you are saying. He comes across a douche.

I don't care if they have Attila the Hun coaching, if he can win games, I'm all for it.

Justin, I think you may have hit on something. Miles doesnt seem very bright, but he's smart like Majors was smart. Johnny made his career off of great assistants and I think Miles may have that knack as well.

When Carr came in at UM, Miles elected to move on.
Coaches have long memories. Ask Bruce Pearl...

Pelini = excellent D coordinator.

The LSU fans hate Gary Crowton, but he's held in high regards by some.

Those are two excellent coaches right there. He does surround himself with talented coaches that's for sure.

Jimbo Fisher was also there before he went to FSU.

He's also smart enough to turn upsetting Oklahoma into the LSU coaching gig, so maybe we aren't giving him enough credit.

I agree with you rex, Miles is definitely trash.

Rumor in Atlanta is that if Tenuta is not offered the Tech job he will become the DC at LSU. Bad news.

Tenuta announced Friday he was going wherever Miles went.

Really, thats terrible news for the rest of the SEC. I swear I heard Tenuta had interviewed for the Tech job and was waiting to hear the results? he was on the radio saying he really wanted it and he hoped he had interveiwed well.

Interesting.

Based on the LSU fans sitting by me at the game, "Miles the Jerk" is the right coach for them. Maybe it takes a jerk to lead the jerks.

when they showed his rant to the female reporter at our last game with them, I wanted to jum through the screen and slap him. The bible says to turn the other cheek, but I think the Lord would forgive me for jacking him up.

I don't know about that, but he has done a good job at it.

for my part, Miles always seems to be playing up the tough guy act a little too much, and he always seems a little too serious. Its like they hired Bill Pullman or Lorenzo Lamas to act the part of their football coach.

The guy just seems like a caricature out of a Lifetime movie of the week, or some other piece of overacted trash.

I hope he stays in Baton Rouge for a long time. The only way the talent in that state can be cancelled out is if they have a coach who consistently does less with more. Miles accomplishes this with a jerk-off flair. If the Tigers win this title, it will be in spite of his head coaching skills, not because of them.

I think he's a doofus and a sub-par coach who only wins because of Louisiana's talent.. He will get exposed eventually.

If only there were another example of this to prove your point. A coach that was wildly successful at LSU, then mediocre when he left....
