The part that makes me sick is that they are doing it in gods name!! How can they think they are right in any way shape or form. They are sick. Just absolutely sick.

Westboro is all threat, no action these days. I'm not surprised and I really wouldn't sweat anything they have planned.

Ignore them. All they want is attention. If only the tv cameras would stay away from places they go.

What's the reasoning behind picketing the funerals of little children? Makes no sense to me at all. This has to be purely for attention purposes and nothing else.

They hope to be attacked so they can sue for civil damages. I thought I read somewhere that lawsuits are their primary source of income.

Gotta be a "better" way to sue for civil damages then protesting little children's funeral. What's there to protest? These children weren't doing anything wrong. (just asking questions in general not really pointed towards you. just wanted to make that clear.)

The general essence of their "protests" when they go to soldiers funerals is the thought that "These men died defending a Godless, amoral country, therefore, they got what they deserved." At least there is a train of thought, even if its a stupid one, that can connect the two things. I can't connect any dots with protesting the children's funerals though, so they are almost certainly just attention whoring.

Yeah I can connect the dots on the soldier thing, although I don't agree with them protesting soldiers funerals either. These men died protecting their right to protest their funeral. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The children on the other hand is just completely off the wall to me. Those children didn't die protecting and immoral country.

WBC has done more to advance gay civil rights than anyone. Think about that.

In 2011, the KKK released a statement against WBC.

Contrary to popular belief, Westboro Baptist isn't just "out for attention." If no one covered them or payed attention to them...they would keep right on doing this crap. They feel that they are obligated to do this to show us all that we are wrong and going to hell. They literally don't give two ****s about the attention, they do this all the time because of their misguided belief system.

There has to be some sort of want for attention for their "cause". Other wise I would think they wouldn't be annoucing they would be protesting funerals of anyone much less little children. You are probably right in the fact that even if the media didn't cover them they would still be doing stuff like this. It just seems like some of the intention is for attention. I could be completely wrong.

They are celebrating God's judgment on the country. This isn't really a protest.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, a spokesperson for the Westboro church, and daughter of church founder Fred Phelps, posted on Twitter , "Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment."

Yeah I saw that post but still does not make sense to me. The guy that did this was not executing God's judgement. Maybe I am dumb but this just doesn't add up or make sense to me.

These guys are about inciting any situation to the level of becoming physical so they can sue. My understanding is many are lawyers.
