Dooley said 1st year does not count and I agree, here is an example of why. When DD came to UT it was a couple weeks before signing day, one recruit was Stone from Jawja. Stone showed up in January and after 2 weeks of spring practice was a starter! Stone was 17 years old. It is taking longer than most people want but reality is reality. Now DD has his staff and a pretty fair starting 22. We need more depth and a big back and we will get that this year. This is a team of juniors and sophomores, we are going to get there so hang tough. 8-4 would not be that bad considering where we have been. I am on the DD train, until I'm not,

I think the Board of Trustees would tend to disagree. Year "Zero" cost the AD almost $2Mil.

Yes, we will get the big running back in this recruiting cycle; however, Bray, Hunter, Rivera and Patterson are likely gone.
this summer Worley, "Pig",Downs, & Croom need to eat, sleep and dream with each other, until they get the offense down pat.

Really it shouldn't count until he has all his own players on the team. And he only had ten days to grab that first bunch so that shouldn't count. So allowing a redshirt year for the watering of the bamboo, I think that 2016 is Year 1.

If these players leave they will have left a job undone, which is returning Tennessee to the top. None of them are ready for the NFL. :twocents:

As of now I am still a Dooley supporter, but I have never like that "year zero" remark. This is year 3 simple as that, I was willing to give Dooley 3-4 years from when he was hired and improvement needs to be seen this year. We don't have to contend for the NC or anything like that (this year), but improvement.

Gruden will never come to UT. I wish he would as much as anyone, but I dont see it happening. He could get a gig at any college in the country...where recruiting would be much much easier. I also hear he has extended contract with ESPN.

We're a ways from having walkons occupying the Oline. We're a ways from having a former walk-on at middle linebacker. We're a ways from having criminals at skill positions or cry-babies with their "on-again; off-again" attitude toward UT football in general.

Besides all of that, the athletic dept isn't in the mood to shell out $4m for a buyout right now. If UT goes 4-8, they may change their mind, but I think UT will do much better than that.

Just win. There are no legit excuses. Play effin football.
Win the effin games. Win all 4 quarters.
Period.
