This is what I have to choose from?

i'll take romney over mccain any day of the week.

Agreed. If it's McCain, i'll vote Libertarian, out of principle. The Libertarian Party's concept is excellent, though it isn't feasible in modern America. It places individual responsibility first and foremost, something that alot of American's are unwilling to take on, as they prefer to be babysat and placated by the government, rather than doing things to improve their situation on their own.

I get standing on principal, but any vote for anyone but the republican is effectively a vote for a strong move toward socialism for a few years.

:hi:

That is my struggle......................................

In other words the democrats will get us there quicker and the republicans will delay it for a few more years?

What has this country come to?

Yes, but the "moderates" in America (aka the uninformed in America) do not fully understand what it is that the Democratic Party desires to do with our nation. If McCain wins the Presidency, much of the Democratic agenda is passed through by a Republican President. However, if Hillary or Obama win, the Democratic agenda is pushed hard for two years, and then the conservative backlash throughout the US will occur, and the power in the Beltway will swing solidly conservative in 2010. It is basically the equivalent of a sac fly, bunt, or even a good ole fashion squeeze play.

The Bill Clinton scenario?

You must realize that my vote doesn't matter. I live in Connecticut, where Hitler could run on the democratic ticket and Jesus on the GOP side, and Hitler would win in a landslide.

Nice points. At this point, honestly, Obama winning the White House wouldn't be all that bad for the Conservative movement, over the course of a 9 inning ballgame

I know what you're saying, I live in Tennessee where you could flip "democratic ticket" and "GOP side" in your quote.

why not Giuliani? if I were McCain, that's who I'd choose...not that I like that ticket however.

From the rumor mill: If McCain wins the nomination, Gov. Crist gets the VP nod, Giuliani-Attorney General, Steve Forbes-Economic Adviser....water cooler stuff :whistling:

Speaking as a "moderate" I would have to wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment.

As you've stated in other threads - you are hard to pigeonhole. You hold some values that are hard-core conservative but some that are libertarian and in direct conflict with social conservatism.

Likewise, as a moderate I match many of your views but consider myself moderate since I'm socially moderate/liberal - but fiscally conservative and have a conservative foreign policy view. A conservative/libertarian such as Paul would consider my foreign policy view as liberal perhaps since it includes a heavy role of the US in global stability (government involvement).

As we see time and time again, trying to label value systems with one-word labels (liberal/conservative/moderate) is an inadequate approach.

Pretty much, there is no right answer.

I can vote for someone other than the GOP and hope we get congress back after a couple of years.

I dunno, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.

I absolutely agree with you, Mitt has no chance, unless the Huckster drops out before super tuesday, and at that point I have to weigh the options, which as you said: are not good. The only thing I have to hang my hat on, is that McCain and Clinton are basically the same, except for McCain will be pro-active in the war on radical Islam....

Except on torture, G.Bay, terrorists getting trials, etc.

EDIT: No I don't mean Green bay. :)
