This is how you get the right guy

The next time Tennessee has to embark on a coaching search, whenever that may be, this is how you get the right guy.

Well, the Vols will bargain shop as usual!! But Florida was loaded with talent and spent well in the portal.

Florida is on their 5th coach since Meyer left in 2010 and none have stayed longer than 4 seasons…not sure they’re the program to emulate?

You all do remember Heupel taking UT to #1 right? Making the playoffs?

This is just more backup QB syndrome

In my lifetime, it has never felt like our Vols ever started looking for a new coach until it was last minute or too late. We’ve avoided a disaster by the like of Brian Kelly or Jimbo Fisher, but we’ve missed on any dynasty builders also.
To even be talking about it right now is silly.

Low info club

Would you switch places with them right now?
Good question. Right now, their outlook is MUCH brighter. We flounder away year after year always short of something. Good O, Bad D or vice versa. Heupel has had ONE above average year in 6 and this one is dimming. Lets see what Summerall does in year 2-3.

What’s funny is all the pearl clutchers who ask, “who you gonna hire?!?” As is Sumrall or Cignetti were even in their vocabulary 3 years ago.

I heard a great analogy on Heupel. He’s basically become the guy who is plugging holes in the dike. He plugs one, another leak appears, he plugs that one, opening the previous, and so on and so on. Losing altitude.

They are ranked higher at the moment. The claim that their outlook is much brighter is pure, reactionary speculation.

One above average year? 🤭

Summerall has done well down there during the first 4 games. Maybe he's caught lightning in a bottle, but question is can he do this consistently?

Muschamp was 11-2 in his 2nd season
Mullen was 10-3 and 11-2 during his first 2 seasons.

May want to wait on any comparisons to great coaches until after the season is over.

I couldn’t possibly. Something about Florida makes my skin crawl.. I don’t think there is another college brand as bothersome to me (on second thought, Penn State and USC are close).

I was even relieved when Kiffin chose LSU. 🤢

Baugh is the best RB in the league. I thought so last year too.

Their new OC is great too.

DGG arrives next year. CJH needs to get the OL corrected. No excuses.
I think we'll see improvement with the OL as the year progresses. The OL actually improved substantially from the first half to the second half last weekend. We don't need to wait until next year to see it improve. If Brandon improves too, the OL will look even better. I am sure you understand how much influence a good QB can have on an OL. Brandon had some great opportunities last week in the 2nd half and couldn't execute. It wasn't a surprise that he struggled and that was expected by reasonably informed fans. That we have a stud defense will aid the development of Brandon.
