“I think that tells the tale,” second-year Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt said of the numbers in the ground game. “I’m not sure, based off the defensive play, did we give our offensive line a chance to dominate the game. Because there was a point in time, every time our offense got the ball, we were down a little bit further.

“I don’t know if that’s right, when it comes to running the football offensively, but that usually dictates who wins and who loses the game.”

If the OL controls the line of scrimmage, it controls the game, thus it controls the Win, it’s not the other way around, DL doesn’t set the tone for the game, that should come from the SEC OL you are trotting out there against a SunBelt DL. Not sure why he is trying to defend Friend’s OL so much?

Georgia State controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the afternoon, rushing for 213 yards while holding Tennessee to 93 yards on the ground.

I’ve seen a few pointing blame at a few players, and let’s be Clear, this is ALL on the coaches. ALL of it. I’ve been one of the biggest defenders of Pruitt, but there is none to not only lose, but get the (crap) beat out of you by a 2-10 Sun Belt team that is picked last in their league again this year, this may be their only win of the year. 200+ yards given up rushing and not even getting 100 yards literally is beyond my belief. Pruitt abs company did nothing to adjust during the game, especially on D.

Worst loss in SEC history by any team favored by 25 points,

Ok, turn the page, was this overconfidence from the coaches, lack of being prepared? whatever it was, Flush it, burn the tape. This week should have the full attention of the players, can’t undo the past, use it as a springboard for the future. Show the ULM game from Saban era showing it can get better quickly if you buy in. You have to build these guys up this week, their confidence is shot. Expect positive remarks coming from Pruitt in his PC this week. Another Patsy this week in BYU who just lost by 20 points but this time, show up. Build your guys up.

Use the clippings as motivation, get a chip on your shoulder, play with an us against the world mentality. If you don’t, the season is lost, expect a TN blowout of BYU, players are going to be mad, coaches are ticked, beat it out on the Cougars.

Those calling for #EmptyNeyland need to stop, team needs butts in the stands, Saturday is the biggest game in Pruitt’s career, lose it, and he will lose the fans (those that are left) and more importantly, the team.

Pruitt lost this team last November. They quit on him last year and that didn't change yesterday...

#enptyneyland is just dumb. I get why people are apathetic, but what is this going to accomplish?

Pruitt's back is against a wall, does he have what it takes to fight his way back. Probably not, but he is in it all season win, lose or draw.

The 200+ yards on the ground is ridiculous.

The fact they attempted 53 rushes while we have 31 (truthfully 21) is coaching malpractice. .

I'll be at the game Saturday night--I kind of feel like it's my civic duty as a UT grad. However, I understand why most want to throw in the towel. At least in Butch's 1st two years the players played their guts out. I didn't see much of that yesterday--no real urgency and very low energy. These kind of games happen every year though. GA was #9 in the country in 16' when they narrowly escaped the mighty Nicholls State Colonels 28-26. Auburn needed OT to beat Jacksonville State a few years ago too. TN was primed for this upset by looking at their future opponents in BYU and UF play earlier games and dreaming of rolling into Gainesville 3-0. GA State was prepping all summer for this game and their gameplan was well executed. It's a big blow to a fan base that is starving for a winner and I get why most are just ready to check out. However, the real test starts now. We'll know real quick if this was a matter of fact epic letdown or if there's a deeper problem within the coaching/players within a couple weeks. There's still a lot left to play for and judging by MO and SC performances yesterday I still have some bowl hopes but we'll see how this team picks itself up Saturday.

Shawn Elliott said on the radio the kept calling the same plays bc UT never adjusted. Elliott took Pruitt to the woodshed.
They didn’t. We played nickel almost the entire damn game. Despite the fact that a lot of the time Ga St only had two wideouts in the game.

Lack of adjustments is mind-numbing
I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia State lost to Furman at GSU Stadium on Saturday.

Hang on a second. Why is it stupid for people to not want to show up at Neyland? I'm not going to encourage anyone else not to go; everyone is free to do what they want to. But, speaking for myself, the only reason I'll be there Saturday is because I already have tickets and there's no way I can recoup my cost. I texted my buddy and his wife last night and told them we'd go and just hang out and enjoy the company and the weather, much like we'd do at a baseball game. After that, I'm through until this team and these coaches win me back. If the coaches don't care and the players don't care, why should I care?

And I don't want to hear all the tired old remarks about "fair weather fans." I was there for all 60 minutes Saturday, sitting on the sunny side of the stadium. I sweated off about 5 lbs. and paid about $200 (tickets + parking + concessions) for the privilege to do so. I haven't had season tickets in almost 10 years but we go to several games each year and the cost has consistently increased while the product and its entertainment value has consistently decreased.

If it takes tens of thousands of empty seats for the folks making decisions at the University of Tennessee to quit screwing around and get serious about winning, so be it.

Read THIS

“I can tell you, I always look at the two lines of scrimmage. I told our guys, I said it’s no secret we have to go be better than them on the offensive line and defensive line. And certainly, if I were to turn on the tape, that may be the glaring flaws to some degree for Tennessee. And I didn’t know because I watched (tape of) last season. Those are some things that we felt like we could control. Not that we felt like we were going to dominate the line of scrimmage by any stretch. But I thought we had quickness in our defensive line, to give their offensive line some problems. And I thought we could push them a little bit with our offensive line. We try to keep guys very, very simple for our guys up front and for the most part they did exactly what we thought they could do. Went out and executed. And at times I felt like we could’ve run the same play over and over again. If you go back and watch it, we probably did a number of times. But the two lines of scrimmage in any football contest are going to be the telling point of who is going to win and lose that football game. And our two lines of scrimmage played well today.”

How many coaches do they plan on quitting on before they deserve a lot of blame?

Why do the high school kids that work at Chick Fil A show more respect to customers than those that work at McDonalds? Because, the culture at Chick Fil A demands it

It's a lack of leadership and culture at UT that is causing this....

That is the most mind boggling facet of the game other than the final score. My wife even said they are running the same play 3 out 4 times....I just glared and shook my head
