Hey guys I got a feeling this D will be a monster. Doesn't really matter that our line is shaky this D will be crazy. I also think the secondary will make up for any of the LBs shortcomings. We have depth at corner now with Evans and Fleming playing as good as they are. The LBs will get a boost this fall when the freshmen get here. I think the competition will make whatever the LB corps is lacking as far as attitude and playmaking go through the roof. If they don't they'll be kissing the bench the rest of their careers.

There is not a defense worth a damn with a "shaky" defensive line. It all starts up front.

If Tennessee's D is going to be great, the DL will over achieve.

If this D is good but not great, the DL will play as expected.

let's also not forget who they're practicing against right now either.

Any defense would look like a Pro Bowl unit playing against Crompton. I cringed reading that he got sacked 7 times (not entirely his fault), fumbling once and taking a safety. How in the world can a senior QB in the SEC take a safety? That sounds like a true freshman move.

Taking a safety is progress over Ainge's option at LSU. Just ask Ras.

But still, I get your drift. Our offense may well suck.

A scary thought, indeed.
well, it just is what it is. our d should be pretty good, but i just don't get where you can have one AA safety, and think this D will be a top 3 SEC D.

they'll be good, but not great.

Yeh... I'm mostly worried about comparing the line play.

Giving the DLine an 'A' is hard to do, but I hope it's true.

In a couple of years when talent and depth are developed, it has the potential to be outright scary.

Think about this, our defense last year made us look better than we were because they played below average teams, with a few exceptions, on offense. It's not going to take much to make our offense look bad honestly. It just going to take a lot of hard work to get this team on offense to where it needs to be to challenge for championships. We are laying a great foundation though with Kiffin and Chaney at the helm. Also, Chaney reminds me of Cut for many reasons and I think that with him on the staff we will take what we learn from the offense this spring and start building the playbook for them to execute what we do well for the fall. I would be willing to bet that we maybe a 60% run team next season.

With mostly dink and dunk passing, but that's better than what we did last year, right?

The defense better be good. If they aren't, our team will be in trouble and it will be another long season. I expect a lot 9-6, 6-3 games this fall.

We were pretty thin at DT last year, too. Granted we're a bit thinner this year, but I'm trying to stay positive about it.

Sorry was talkin about the O-line they're going against.

The d-line actually looks pretty solid with the 1st unit right now and dynamic at times. The linebackers are questionable and the secondary is very inexperienced and not all that great outside of Berry. That being said, the D coaches are some of the best in the business and I believe they will have this defense firing on all cylinders by the Florida game. Walker, Martin, Berry, D. Williams, and McCoy have all star ability with Hughes being a big surprise.
