Ever since Pruitt was hired as the new coach at Tennessee it has been speculated that he would leave for Bama when they come calling after Saban leaves. I was kind of 50/50 on that, thinking if he has built a top notch program by then why leave and go try to fill shoes that I don't think any other coach in America could fill. We all hate Bama but if we are being non-biased, Saban is the greatest coach since Bear Bryant. That brings me to this coaching search and how its probably always going to be in the back of Pruitt's mind if this scenario of Bama comes calling plays out in the distant future. I know rumors have been flying in every direction but Trey Wallace and Dan Harralson talked about it in a podcast that the admin (nobody can pinpoint it to a specific person) did in fact derail Pruitt's hire of Freeze. That can't sit well with him knowing every hiring decision he makes in the future is going to have to be signed off by people who have never placed one foot on Shields-Watkins Field.

Freeze was told no by people at Tennessee, Auburn, and FSU. And Alabama last year. It's the only reason he's at Liberty.

Saban is a much better coach than Bear Bryant. When Bear had to face off against the best coach he went against, he went winless against Neyland. Saban's results have directly or partially to the dismissal (or in 1 case, a hospital admission) of several HOF coaches.....

If Pruitt wasnt aware this admin wasnt dedicated to winning when he was hired, he's an idiot, and well aware now. If he can pull together a few good seasons he will probably go anywhere else.

But we didnt have to go through stuff with Freeze to know that.

Damn. That left a mark.

Our admin is interested in the cash football brings. Period. If 102,455 hit that stadium every gameday (or even anything over 85K or so) and we all keep buying merchandise, I don't think they give a rat's patootie about what is on the field.

I'm pretty sure every administration is interested in cash. I think the admin here just aren't football/sports fans in general. They have no pride in the big orange.. They simply don't bleed orange.

I'm pretty sure it's not that way in bamar...

I'll sure be glad when the OC announcement is made so that these stupid threads stop surfacing

Me too. After all, what call does a fan have to question, discuss, or debate anything their coach, AD, or admin is doing? Just shut up, buy your ticket, eat your nachos, wear your gear, STFU, and be happy you're fortunate enough that they agree to take your cash.

I mean really! Some people........

So let me get this straight. The OP is suggesting that the administration is trying to keep Pruitt from hiring a coach that could make our team successful in hopes to keep our HC here instead of him leaving for Alabama?

Read that a few times and tell me what about that doesn't sound like complete insanity.

the real likely story is that a Freeze hire was being blocked by the SEC commissioner because they
wanted him out of the SEC for good. Freeze got froze.

The S.E.C said no to Saban bringing him to bama last year then it only makes sense that they said no to the vols this year.Maybe he's on some kind of two year ban or something.

Freeze was tainted goods from the get go and I have a hard time taking it seriously that he was ever in the running for the UT job.

Great offensive mind but heading down the same path as Petrino. A complete idiot off the field.
