This a trap game?

The key question is, will the Arky players buy what Petrino is selling? If they resent him for pushing Pittman out the door, this game will be over before it starts.
I don’t know if I can agree with that. I believe the players will be relaxed with the coaching change, even though it may be temporary. And try to prove they need to stay at Arkansas. They could be fired up and play well. They do have some talent. Can not overlook them.

Bottom line up front: I think we win this game.

What worries me is Petrino is now a wild card with a week to plan. He may not be a faithful man but he is a smart coach that took Arkansas to heights they have not seen. It’s possible he got Pittman fired with promises to the AD and boosters he can do it again.

Not a coincidence they cut bait early on their DC ahead of this matchup. Likely because he is seeing something schematically he needs/wants changed. You can do a lot with two weeks to prepare.

We know they can score. We know we can score right there with them. The delta here is they have tape on us as is. We only have tape on their offense, not what Petrino plans to without Pittman on D (and maybe offense too).

OR, we blow their pork butts out of Neyland and make it look easy!
Even without a head coach Ark would be hard for us to beat. Another team like Miss St always is for us. Tough as hell. Win or lose.

I think Heupel has this team’s full attention. We’ve got levels to go as a team. Using the bye to get healthy but also 🔒 into the details as we enter this stretch.

Last year was a crappy feeling and I know the locker room hasn’t forgotten the embarrassment of last year. We need to score 40+ and keep the pedal down all game.
Always!!! Not something we do very often. You can't win in this league playing not to lose!

Yea that’s my concern as well. We haven’t been very good coming off bye weeks under Heupel. Had a bye week against Arkansas last season
Heupel is 4-1 as Tennessee's head coach after a bye week.

Josh Heupel's record after open date at Tennessee

Nov. 6, 2021: Tennessee 45, Kentucky 42 (Lexington, Kentucky)
Oct. 8, 2022: Tennessee 40, LSU 13 (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)
Oct. 14, 2023: Tennessee 20, Texas A&M 13 (Knoxville, Tennessee)
Oct. 5, 2024: Arkansas 19, Tennessee 14 (Fayetteville, Arkansas)
Nov. 2, 2024: Tennessee 28, Kentucky 18 (Knoxville, Tennessee)
