It would, of course, entail some substantial risk for UT, but I would like to recommend that AD Hamilton consider hiring George Quarles, the Maryville High School coach as our next head coach of varsity football. His record, entirely in the high school ranks, is outstanding. His teams have won numerous state championships, and they have always featured excellent teamwork, an enormous will to win, and amazing resilience when defeat seemed imminent. He would have a substantial recruiting advantage in Tennessee high schools, where his reputation is excellent. And, because he is a well-spoken gentleman to everyone he meets, he would undoubtedly enjoy considerable success when recruiting outside Tennessee. Why not hire the best man available, especially when he's right in our own backyard?

I think that is wishful thinking, but even as successful as he is in hs, i think that is to big of a jump...maybe a position coach 1st.

. . . or Mike Hamilton could just save time and go jump in the river before the boosters come to throw him in.

Is this really that far-fetched? I think it makes more sense than giving a college position coach the reigns of a NFL team (Kiffin).

There's no way that would work, especially with trying to hold any part of a recruiting class.

Hire him as a position coach, I can see possibly.
