I've had Direct TV for a while (mainly because I'm a sports fanatic) anyone had any experience with Charter? Another reason is bundling my Internet, phone, and TV---appreciate the feedback!

Extremely fast Internet. I average around 18mbps. HD selection is not that great though.

wow, I see posts like this and am so thankful for Fios in my area. Hope one day the cable providers offering internet service get run out of business by people like Google

I would stick with DTV if you want more sports selections.

What makes you think you need 50mbps speeds for home? I have charter 3mbps & run online gaming, laptop, Netflix, iPad, iPhone, iPod, etc & most at the same time without a hiccup. They offer a good 15mbps package & that is more than enough.

no you don't. Netflix requirements for HD streams are higher than that.

Feel free to believe what you want. I have no issues with Netflix, HD or not. COD games, NCAA etc run without a hiccup. Multiple devices run just fine & while the above mentioned are running.

Charter could offer me free cable for life, with HD, DVR, and all movie channels, and I would tell them to kiss my ass.

Hope this helps.

Why not when it is no additional cost? The bumped me from 30 to 50 last time I called them for no reason. I didnt even ask. I have every channel available and 50 meg internet for 100 bucks a month.

If its free more power. I was just stating people are enamored with these high speeds when they aren't really needed. If I did a lot of downloading I'm sure higher speeds would help but I don't so I'm good. Web, Netflix, & gaming is about all I do & 3mbps handles that well contrary to what some might believe. Downloading a movie from ps store takes forever but I don't even do that anymore. You have redbox & everything else that's a lot cheaper.

Higher speed=bigger pie. If you are running more devices over a network, then you are going to need a higher speed/more bandwidth to handle everything. If you are running your whole house basically over wifi, 3mbps would cause a total system shut down at my house so I need a higher speed which gives me a bigger pie so I can accommodate everything. In Chattanooga 50mbps is basically the standard speed.

Some people run on less than 3. Like I said at any given time 3 iPhones, an iPod, an iPad, & ps3 could be going at the same time just fine at my home.

I got my direct tv bill yesterday, I have 3 boxes and my rate went to $113.51 a month.
Last month was $107.50.. I called and the lady told me their rate went up..
How much is Charter TV only counting my 3 boxes. 1 in the Living Room, 1 in Bedroom 1 in the HT room.. I live way out in the sticks no Charter even close. I do see a Whisper or something like that.. I have had the Direct 15 years

That may very well work for you. However, depending on your use that changes. The mobile devices take up relatively little space in small numbers. I run lighting control, thermostat control, distributed audio/video and have my cable basically set up as IP TV throughout my place. So I need much higher bandwidth.

I highly doubt this.

Honestly the best internet really is LTE. I pulled 50mpbs down the other night from my iPhone and average around 30 during peak times.
