I've been thinking about getting a dog or two (depending on what breed I get, I don't want a single dog to get lonely while I'm at work) to keep me company when my kid isn't around and I need some name suggestions.

I have a friend who's an Alabama fan and talked his wife into name his dog Bama. They're thinking about getting a second dog and naming it...wait for it...Ala. Yes, I'm not kidding. So, if I were to get two dogs, what's a good combination of Tennessee names to offset the Alabama crazy? I was thinking of Orange and White, but I don't think they would be suitable names for an animal.

One rule: No recent/current coaches names.

General and Neyland would be acceptable and excellent names. I should of clarified and said no current/recent coaches name.

Get a couple of labs. Great companion and family dog.

How about Peyton and Reggie?

Excellent name suggestions SDV. I have limited space for a dog to roam however, so I'm not sure I want to get a lab. I would get a Bluetick Coonhound but for that same space reason, they're out. :bad:

Thinking beagle, which would mean two dogs.

Guard dog? The Irish Wolfhound wiped out wolves in Ireland. Apparently, they're uber-friendly. And the coolest looking dogs I've ever seen.

I also have a 15 year old Jack Russell named Neyland. They are great dogs

If you are short on space I suggest chihuahua's. Call them what you will. I have 4 and they are all amazing in their own right.

Our new Boxer (possibly a mix with Lab, etc) is the sweetest puppy I've ever been around.

Rocky would make a nice Vol name. Reggie? Big Al? Peerless? Summitt?

Awesome! Are they loud?

Their baying can get quite loud but we love that sound. Whenever we take them for a ride and RV or I get out of the van to go in a store, the ensuing screams from what sounds like two seals make everyone turn around. People even come out of the store to see what the heck it is. Then they come over and get kissed to death.:eek:lol:

Go with a couple of Shiba Inus, they are small, fast and run around in all sorts of unexpected directions, just like our defense. You could call them Pwag and Maggit.
