They just obliterated the refs on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe this morning.

Everyone knows it but nothing will be done about it. I would be happy with a suspension or don't pay them for that game.
This officiating crew has baggage. They've been suspended in the past.
They should be suspended for a season. If we did that I bet some of these zebras would get their act together.
I'll always recall coaching youth ball. A game needed another official and I was ask by the head of officials if I could sub one game. I had been involved in sports for many years but never called a game.
I asked the guy, what if I make a mistake?
He's response, don't worry about it the others will have your back and uphold the call......wow.
I think that crap happens all the time at all levels.

Yea it's a sad situation when players and coaches put all they have into it and lose because of idiotic refs. They should be fired but I'm betting they won't.

The Line Judge is crooked. That wasn’t his first blatantly bad call. In the first quarter I new that guy was going to be a major player in the game.
The way he spotted the ball all night was questionable at best. It seems all of our spots were almost a yard behind where the runner ended up and he gave Purdue some very generous spots. No one can convince me this game was not somewhat rigged by the officials

If I’m Heupel, I’d never accept an invite to the Music City Bowl again.

How does Derrick Henry run on that Garbage field.

Just a suggestion. The field was bad, BAD. But less we Vol-fans forget, Neyland was worse for a while not too long ago. And our SEC and other foes let us know it in blunt terms. We might want to object to the field in somewhat less haughty terms, remembering we had the same issue once. Makes me wonder all the same how well-moneyed team owners can't afford better field maintenance.

I guess my biggest problem is the excuse used that the ref had called the play dead but yet had blew the whistle. I played football through high school (be it many moons ago) and was taught to play until you heard the whistle blow. From all indication on the replay, no whistle was blown and everyone I could see was still pushing, shoving, and hitting until the whistle actually blew. You could see on replay he had yet stopped forward motion (even if it was very slow) and he was able to place the ball over the goal line before the whistle. If this is the way things are going to play out, get rid of the ignorant review. Extends the game and the calls are far from consistent. Hard for me to believe that with today's technology, there isn't a chip placed in the football that could communicate with the sticks and goal line to tell if there is a first down or touchdown.

That was very unfortunate, we won that game. Great first season for Coach Heupel. I’m only critical of our defense, but when we score in 2 minutes that doesn’t give them much rest. Not really sure how to fix that besides slowing offense down.

It does. That’s why you see them throw a flag and then stand out there huddled up looking at each other like a bunch of goomers. They know they pull stuff out of their rear end and they won’t get called on it

If I’m in the SEC front office, I take a long look at whether I want to bring in ref crews from not just the ACC, but the Big 10 and PAC12 as well. With the three of them working out agreements to essentially compete with the beefed-up SEC, it’s impossible to rule out at least subtle bias from their officiating crews. Or, you know, a complete travesty of a game that winds up getting lambasted not just by one team’s fans but basically the entire country’s sports media. There are plenty of other conferences to work with.

If he’s the primary guy spotting the ball then he was biased from the first snap - two really bad spots in the first quarter. Neither had game changing impacts but still, a sign of things to come.

I have a friend that's a Ref 25+ years. Yeah, he just laughs about it, they become desensitized. He says for a job I don't worry about it, who else are they gonna get with 25+ years of missing calls and knowing how to navigate out of it. Then regroup for a new game. Also, he said to keep the ref's lounge stocked with food/drinks on Home games and you might get all the 50/50 calls, and remember we can call holding on any play and PI it's not a bad gig. You're usually anonymous.

Yep, everyone wants to stick it to the SEC so you can’t rule out how that influences officials. But those guys were bad all night with bad calls both ways. Since there is so much animosity towards the SEC - especially since Texas and Oklahoma made their decision - maybe we should recruit referees from non power five conferences for bowl games. Plenty of good officials in those “other” leagues.

Stock that room with filet mignon and the finest drinks. Just give me close to 50-50.

The ref that "reviewed" the play should not be anonymous.

Good points. Several replays I’ve seen feature a whistle blowing after he had broken the plane with the ball. You can clearly hear the whistle. Further, what is the ref’s responsibility once he judges that forward progress has been stopped? He blows that whistle. The play is live until the whistle blows.
