Anyone agree that Vandy would have beaten any team in the country with that kind of play? A hot team can do that to a team that is not on their game. Vandy was coming off a big loss to GA, and was determined to save face in this game. The Vols; coming off the SC beatdown, were beaten before the tip. I certainly didn't expect a blowout, but Vandy at Memorial Gym is like Duke at Cameron. Kentucky will find that out, too.

Vandy has their best team in my memory, and they are better than UT, but in reality not 20 points better. Sometimes, everything lines up just right and we saw the result.

So rather than look for a solution to an ongoing problem, just chalk it up to the stars.

These things happen? Well, so far it has happened 4 times this year that we have been beaten soundly by the other team. UGA by 15, Vandy by 9 and 19 and USC by 22. I bet if you add all those margins up they will equal half of what Kentucky will beat us by Saturday night.

Only teams that played undisciplined, rushed low percentage shots, spent little effort going after rebounds and fouled like high school kids over their heads.

Don't get me wrong Vanderbilt is a solid team but we made them look like serious contenders in the tourney last night.

I stated that Vandy was the better team. YOU invented the stars. Circumstances was what I referred to---similiar to GA whipping Vandy in Athens.

Read your last sentence in the OP. If it's not the stars' alignment, what is it?

I knew someone would make the "they were just playing lights out tonight," argument.

I could handle losing to Vandy yesterday if we would have took care of business at home, but we didn't. Looking at what we have coming up, it doesn't look very good.

If you have to make that argument 4 times in a season, something is wrong.

They truly may be the most physical team in the history of basketball. They should all play football as well. Then Vandy would actually win a conference game.

This Vanderbilt team isn't even as good as their '07-'08 squad.

Their depth certainly makes them a better overall team, especially against teams in our situation. If you are talking about individual players then I would probably agree with you. They don't have any great players but depth more than makes up for that IMO.

I have been meaning to ask you what you thought about their shooter from Station Camp High School north of Nashville, I cannot remember his name right now.

The '07-'08 team was a missed walk call from playing in the Elite Eight. This team will have to get the draw of the century to win two NCAA games. There's no comparison between the two.

Jenkins is a decent player, but certainly not worthy of the hype he got coming out of high school.

I'm so sick and tired of threads like this where the OP pretty much does a shoulder shrug and acts like there wsa nothing in the world the Vols could have done to avoid this embarrassment.

I guess if you count out playing better offense, playing better defense, better shooting, better FT shooting, and better rebounding, then yeah....the Vols couldn't do anything to avoid the beatdown they got.
