Lamar Smith, Global Warming Skeptic, Set To Chair House Science Committee

Previously, it was Ralph Hall and when asked about why he doesn't believe that humans are responsible for global warming, this was his statement:

"I don't think we can control what God controls."

That's his "scientific" evidence as to why man is not responsible. Notice no facts...no data...no theories, just ridiculous random thoughts that pop up in the head. He sounds like a 2nd grader trying to explain why 2X4 equals 8. "Because God made it that way." Way to express your higher order thinking, Ralph.

Also, when discussing global warming, he says:
"I'm really more fearful of global freezing."

Oh, so because you would rather be hot than cold, that's proof that global warming doesn't matter? When asked that question, he says:

"I don't have any science to prove it."

Remember...he's supposed to be the head of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, yet knows NOTHING about global warming.

Thank God he's out and Lamar Smith is in, right? Well...on global warming, Smith had this to say:

"The (news) networks have shown a steady pattern of bias on climate change. During a 6 month period, 4 out of 5 network news reports failed to acknowledge any (skeptical) views about global warming."

Nevermind that 97% of scientific studies on global warming have found that it is real and humans are the cause. It's the 3% that are funded and bought off by oil companies to say what they want to hear that we need to listen to.

Smith received $500,000 form oil and gas companies over his career, so there's no surprise that he's doing exactly what these companies want him to do.

What a puppet.

You can point your last sentence at yourself.

Man controls the sun? Or are you suggesting the US govt is involved in HAARP technology weather control?

It is very sad that the people do not understand the simple science behind why global warming is caused by man. It makes me close my eyes and shake my head.

Do you really think that 97% of scientists are behind some kind of conspiracy theory? What do they have to gain by saying man is responsible for the warming of the Earth?

And there's absolutely no way the other side has anything to gain from saying that man does not cause global warming. No...oil companies cannot possibly profit from people NOT buying cars that are more fuel efficient.

Yet scientists can profit a great deal from saying that man does cause global warming, right? Oh wait...

What caused the earth to warm after the last ice age? I guess cavemen invented the internal combustion engine right after the wheel .....

Man-made global warming is a fantasy.

You've been watching too much Fox News and Pat Buchanan lately. Did you know that prior to the year 2000, republicans believed that global warming was a huge threat to the world and they were trying everything the possibly could to stop it?

Then, the oil companies started buying members of congress and the senate to make them say what they wanted them to say. Like I said...puppets.

Why don't you go read the Climategate emails and see the books have been cooked. The "warmers" are using this big lie to institute a global business tax. It's all fraud.

Global warming stopped 16 years ago, reveals Met Office report quietly released... and here is the chart to prove it | Mail Online

Why don't you explain to me why real science reveals that global temperatures were actually a little warmer during the middle ages. Billions of people weren't around polluting the atmosphere with carbon dioxide. We didn't have the internal combustion engine yet. How is that possible?

If you're really worried about global warming, then go plant a tree. They absolutely love carbon dioxide. In fact, it's how they grow and give off oxygen through photosynthesis.

So tell me, how long have you been attending your global warming brainwashing sessions? That's pretty much all college is nowadays.

So now we shouldn't go to college because all they do is prevent you from believing in God and instead believing in science?

Thank you, Rick Santorum for this brilliant theory.

I am about as big of a science guy on here, and I am not at all convinced that "man" has "caused or created" global warming.

I certainly agree than man is not doing anything to help the situation. I am not sure where you get the confidence to say such a statement with absolute definitely.

What in the hell does a fraud like Rick Santorum have to do with the fact that anthropogenic global warming is a scam?

In case you missed it, the point is that America's colleges and universities ceased to be bastions of academia the minute they started pushing left-wing social agendas.

The professors are shills for people like Obama and his ilk. Those of us who spent our college years actually learning rather than repeating the Marxist party line from the "educators" can differentiate real science from science fiction.

Yes, I do. That's because we can prove evolution. Human evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology are very interesting subjects.

Oh yeah, what does that have to do with the big lie called anthropogenic global warming?

Because Rick Santorum basically said people shouldn't go to college because it's turning them all into atheist. Honestly, claiming all colleges do is push left wing agendas is BS. I've never taken a class in all my time at UT or community college and felt like I was getting hammered with a Marxist view. I've always felt it was pretty balanced. However, I'm a biochemistry major so I take science classes so I can't comment on poli sci and the like.

Read a book for once in your life, or take the time to understand greenhouse gas emissions.

You do realize the earth has had these things called ice ages right? You know.....when it was much colder... And woolly mammoths walked the ground.....and that the earth warmed..... Well if you ever read a book or went to school you would know this.... So tell me Mr. Global Warming......just how did the earth warm without man and his greenhouse gases.....closed minded baboon

I believe in both.....but I also have enough sense to think for myself and question the legitimacy of theoretical information. Can you explain how the earth warmed before man and his fossil fuel usage? No.....but you'll believe everything you hear on global warming from Mr. Whoopy at the university.

Wrong. You cannot prove evolution. It's a theory, based on substantial scientific evidence and support from the scientific community.

Much like climate change - a controversial topic that has been peer reviewed ad naseum (peer review being the good standard of vetting scientific hypothesis/theories). At the end of the day, the vast majority conclude in man-made climate change. I choose to believe them over any politician, religious figure, or biased business group.

Evolution is basically proven. It's only controversial because people freak out because they think you are telling them they came from monkeys and it voids their religious views.

So where am I wrong? Have you seen the percentages of academics who donated to Obama?

America's colleges and universities lean heavily to the Left. There's no disputing that. In turn, the kids are coming out dumber than when they matriculated 4 years earlier. How else do you explain the fact that a fraud like Obama could become president.

Yes, you can prove it. You can debate the extent and number of species, but evolution has happened. The fact that you choose to believe a bunch of quacks who stand to make a fortune peddling man-made climate change shows how far you're gone. It's no wonder America has rapidly begun its decline into 3rd world status.

People on the science committee should have a science related background. Do any of them? I'm not talking about global warming opinions here.
