Theory on Pruitt/Coaching Turnover

Let's see if Jeremy will grow before we just replow the field because the corn didn't sprout ears two days after planting.

Haven’t you heard? Corn don’t grow on Rocky Top ...... we get our corn from a jar!

Good point though. We might see some improvement next year with a good OC, but the real benefits will come to fruition in a couple years as SEC talent is recruited and developed

Fulmer is going to pick the OC and consult with Pruitt about it. After the craziness that happened when Schiano was hired I can't see any possible way the Vols are going to let a coach with 1 year experience be the decision maker on this coaching hire.

Crazy post, imo.

But if it's an "unauthorized biography", just like the title of this post said "Theory", the burden shifts to how those who read it, use it. Not the one's who wrote it. I do understand what you are concerned about, because I have had media outlets use my words out of context as fact, and twisted beyond recognition. However, anyone with any reasonable level of education knows that an "unauthorized biography", just as any comment that is led by "in theory" or "hypothetically", needs to be handled with skepticism and having little to no more credibility than fiction. If anyone in the media is feeding off of this, they are the dumb ones. Trust me, there's a whole lot more out there that's far more important than my theories to be reporting on.

True.........I never I wasn't a hypocrite =\.................my point is, its impossible to speculate on someone you don't know.

Just throwing this out there...

Given Pruitt's background as a Defensive Assistant with no prior head coaching experience, I would expect alot of trial and error with the hires he makes to coach the Offense. Keep in mind most of the hires he's made on the Defensive side, he's either worked closely with in the past, or they actually worked for him as a position coach when he was the Coordinator.

Same can't be said for the Offense, and he has to rely on instinct, relationships and advice from others. How they actually work together is another story. I think that's exactly what's happened with Tyson Helton and what could happen with Will Friend. Those were instinctive hires based on past relationships or recommendations. But sometimes when that's the basis of a hire, after you've actually had to work together, you quickly figurer out its not a fit.

Bottom line - I fully expect to see alot of turnover with coaches for the Offense over the next couple of years. Meanwhile we wait...

The guy that just left did get a head coaching job.

Then get ready to hire a new HC soon. No HC worth his salt is going to stay at a place where the AD hires his staff.
That would be cool. The only interesting UT football-related events over the last 12 years have been the coaching searches. Like a group of homeless people (fans) staring into the showroom of a Ferrari dealership (potential coaches.)

Report I heard today,

Pruitt wants Briles, Briles wants to bring his own OL Coach, which kicks Friend out, that's the hang up right now. source: can't say....

Cool, you're the first person I've talked to that actually has a source. I won't ask who cause I know that's confidential, but do you guys with sources have a secret password you use to make sure you're both who you say you are? Or is it some type of riddle, like "How much wood could a wood chuck chuck"? I've always wondered how that worked.

When do you expect to get more information?

Any great, or even good, candidate for the job will insist on bringing along one or more of his own. If he doesn't, it means he is desperate for a job. If CJP picks one of the best, it means Friend loses his position, either by leaving or getting a desk job. It can be difficult to do that to a friend but this is the nature of the beast.

If Jeremy wants proof, he might use his boss as an example. One of the main reasons CPF lost his job was his loyalty to his friends.
