Does GA beat Bama with Jamie Newman as the QB?
What about with JT Daniels?

Just curious everyone's thoughts.

I doubt it. Bennett was a problem and threw 3 picks, and his lack of height was really exposed as a problem. However Georgia's defense, as good as I think it is, also couldn't cover Bama's WRs or pressure Jones like I thought they'd be able to.

It might be a closer game with Newman or Daniels (assuming he's healthy) but I think they still lose.

I dont know how good either would be, but the biggest difference in that game was the QB play.

UGA would have been better, no doubt. But UGA's defense lost that game more than the offense. When it was clear that Bama was going to make it a shootout, UGA had to adjust their offensive gameplan, and Bama's defense capitalized on the risks UGA had to take. But if UGA's defense had been even remotely capable of stopping Bama, the offense doesn't have to take those risks.

I think that a lot of Georgia fans are reluctant to admit that because they believe their defense to be elite and their HC's calling card, which it is, but they don't want to admit that it also played a role in them losing the game. Bama fans (not you specifically) do the same thing after Alabama losses - they are extremely reluctant to admit that their defense didn't play well and instead point the figure at OCs or some other aspect of the offense, even if the offense moved the ball well and scored a ton of points. They are so used to having a good defense that it's hard to fathom that the defense might have played a role in a loss.

Even though he played well against Arky, Auburn, and Tennessee, UGA fans knew Bennett was the weak spot on their team, so they are more comfortable placing all of the blame on him in the event of a loss.

I don't think you'll find many Bama fans who are still excusing our terrible defensive play. Maybe thru last year, with the injuries and all, but not now. Bama has a defensive coaching problem, and it's not going to get better until Golding is fired. If Bama's defense was even remotely competent, Bama would coast to a national title. But it's not, so every game is going to be a shootout.

Not so far this year, because you haven't lost a game and it's hard to do anything other than blame the defense when you give up 48 and score 63, for example. Even if y'all lost that game, I imagine the finger would be pointed directly at Golding, true.

I was thinking back to some previous losses in big games, particularly the 2017 title game (2016 season), the Ohio St loss in the Sugar Bowl, or the 2010 South Carolina loss. I know turnovers were key in the Ohio St loss (and the Oklahoma loss in the same game the year prior), but if you were an Alabama fan and dared to point out something other than an offensive mistake, it's like you were spouting a heresy.

I think Bama has had the benefit of needing a shoot out before this. For GA this was the first test, and they failed. Bama got a chance to go through the growing pains of stretching the scoreboard against Ole Miss first.
