The WRASSLIN’ Thread

Was thinking about getting back into wrestling a bit. So kinda had a refresher on both WWE and AEW the past couple months. Well I can say with confidence the show I’ll be watching doesn’t air on Mondays or Fridays

I think that's the right choice as far as good to great wrestling. WrestleMania as much as hate to say feels like a rush job with matches set up with 2 weeks to go. At least add a little build if it's the biggest show of the year. I'll watch it because of a few matches, but this isnt the best on paper IMO.

So the women's North American Title felt like a bigger deal than the world title. Also the difference in match length is real. I didn't realize how used I have gotten to AEW's long form format.

Stand and Deliver was a good show. I don't think it rose to the level of Takeovers past. But I can't complain about the in ring product. Lots of good work being done. My only real gripe is Booker T. I have finally found a commentator dislike more than Schiavone.

Yeah,I checked the Wikipedia results for Stand and Deliver and no match went 20 minutes. They usually went 15 on average. I enjoyed it ,but none of the matches felt like they got out of second gear. I guess that's a booking decision for some reason 🤔

I second that on Booker being a terrible announcer. He's just annoying and full of catchphrases. He comes off as another Lawler in regards to the women.

I also think they'll be calling up Hendry and Jacy Jayne after WrestleMania.

Mone officially is Zero Belts Mone. Had to vacate the last but she took an L for the rest.

I imagine she’ll return soon and the run to her winning at All In should be incredible.
With Tony out putting the belt on Mercedes makes a lot of sense. She can have a good long run and Tony can take it off her when she gets back, or they can use beating Monè as a way to spring board Willow up by taking it from her.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Ospreay in a AEW ring myself on a regular basis again.

Yeah, even though I'm watching it, I could see myself not watching it and not missing a thing.(WrestleMania) It's riding on the name this year minus a few matches.

Of course that's more of a habit thinking I'll miss out for some reason.

This is the first year in many that I have zero interest in watching WrestleMania. I usually will watch it just for the spectacle, but I just know it's going to be more of the same old same old.
I skipped it last year. I'm tentatively planning on watching it this year, more out of curiosity than anything. The last time I tried to watch a WWE PLE I turned it off part way through.

The buildup to Wrestlemania has been crap. HOWEVER, there absolutely are some awesome matches lined up, as long as they don't screw it up with shenanigans.

Oba vs. Brock SHOULD be an absolute banger. Brock will win, but it'll be great.

Punk vs. Roman...these two have only faced each other 1v1 once in history. The buildup has been really good, especially with last night's Punk Pipebomb. This should be an awesome main event.

Rhodes vs. Orton....they killed this one with Pat McAfee. No longer interested.

Finn Balor vs. Dominic Mysterio. If Finn comes out as The Demon, this match is a W. If he doesn't, then it's a toss up.

Intercontinental championship ladder match....will be the best match of the whole thing in regards to pure wrestling ability. Penta, Rey Mysterio, Jevon Evans....definitely will be some "Wow" moments in there.

Seth vs. Gunther will be a really interesting match as well.

None of the women's matches interest me.

This Wrestlemania has potential. But it's not gonna be because of the storytelling. There's gonna have to be some outstanding matches.

The only ones that remotely interest me are Seth vs. Gunther and Balor vs. Mysterio.

The ladder match sounds good too. I'm curious to see Penta in WWE and Dragon Lee is pretty awesome. This year's HOF class is also really good with AJ, Demolition(finally), and Sid. I'm always interested in Rhea Ripley. Plus the 2 you mention.

The "top" 3 matches on the card don't intrest me at all though. I've never been a fan of Brock and you know how I feel about Phil. But I will admit to being curious to see how the fans react to McAfee after all the controversy. Will it be heat or silence? But Cody vs Orton is a bunch of meh for me.

Why are we not getting Americano vs Americano mask vs mask? I mean, I guess they aren’t finished with that whole angle, but it can only go so long and those two could put on a match of the night on the biggest stage.

So clearly this whole Pat McAfee/Rhodes mixed with Punk's remarks last night are all works but....is it really wise to let someone like Punk say things out loud like "LOWER YOUR TICKET PRICES"? I mean, that's a legit complaint from wrestling fans, that the average fan is priced out. Which to be fair, is a complaint for the sports world in general but I don't know....airing that out for a storyline seems like it might just piss off fans more. Sure it gets some cheers but...it's not like they are going to actually lower ticket prices until they absolutely have to.

Maybe I'm overthinking it and it's a stupid angle.
