This is a VN petition to Mr. Hart to pull whatever necessary strings and bring in Randy Shannon. I think the overall consensus agrees....but let's pile it on in this support thread. The fans should have a voice whether we are boosters or not.

Evidently it's already been done for several days now. We should hear something by end of day Monday.

Why do we have to lock onto one guy and pretend he's the only guy in America that can coach?

Any clue on when we should have an official announcement on who our defensive coordinator will actually be?

I agree, there are several other people who would also be acceptable. With that said, Shannon is still my first choice as of right now.

omg after watching Clemson get ripped last night we need to stay as far away from steele as we can the only thing i would except to come from Clemson is boyd coming back and Sammy with him so go get Shannon he has a better track record anyways no he wasn't a great head coach but when he was defensive coordinator at Miami he was top 10 each year he was there except 1 he was in the 20s so i mean come on the people that say why him because he is the best choice thank about how good our team could be with a top 10 defense next year????

Flavor of the week? You don't know football then. Shannon was a great player that wait, wait, wait............turned into a great coach(recruiter). He was a stellar DC and he wasn't ready to be a HC when they hired him. Although one can argue that he did pretty good as a HC. He had to clean up the mess that Larry Coker ran into the dirt. Imagine if Butch Davis stayed there and didn't bail-out on them with Shannon still at DC......WOW!!!

No and this is foolish. There are probably 5 to 10 on the list of prospective DCs. Shannon however is the best one out there in about 99% of people's opinions.

Then Miami would be facing similar issues that UNC is now facing. Butch Davis has a problem associating himself with nefarious individuals with nefarious recruiting practices. Randy Shannon, on the other hand, appears to be squeeky clean.

I'd take Randy in a second. The only problem I see with that hire is that we would be a stop-over job for him. The minute he had some success, he would be offered a HC job and would be out of here. We need continuity right now more than anything when it comes to our coaching staff.
