Some of the reactions I’ve seen on this board are just ridiculous. I really question if some of you are grown men or if you’re 6 year old at home got ahold of your key board. Yes, yesterday’s loss was one for the ages and one that is unacceptable. Pruitt and staff weren’t on the same page and it showed. However, to fire the man who has barely been there a year and who’s “recruits” are all freshman basically starting in their first game is ridiculous. Yesterday was not a good look, but let’s not act like we just didn’t come off the two worst seasons in school history. It amazes me how some of you thought bringing in Tee and Chaney would just magically transform our players into SEC stars. You can only do so much as coaches. Pruitt has proven over and over that he knows how to win as well as all of our coaches. If this staff can’t get the best out of our players I don’t know of a staff in the country that can. Sometimes you’re dealt the cards your dealt. Things aren’t going to change until his recruits get in here and are developed. That doesn’t happen over one summer with true freshman either. It takes time. That’s how far this program has went down. No one in the land besides Saban himself would have been able to land some of the players we’ve gotten with the way the two previous seasons have went. It’s been one game and all the fair weather fans have come out in droves. One game doesn’t define a season, and I fully believe the staff is going to work their tale off more so than they ever to right the ship. I really hope some of you so called fans really do jump ship. That will keep me from having to read some of the crap you post on this board. Oh yeah, take the negative Nancy “$9.99 insider” Big Gucci with ya.

Go Vols.

Appreciate the optimism but it doesn't matter what year you are, what star you are, etc effort costs nothing and Tennessee couldn't even give that. I gave my best as a fan yesterday. Traveled to two hours, payed for a hotel room for two nights, spent money on season tickets and was on campus about 8 hours in the heat yesterday. A coach who cannot even get EFFORT out of his team lacks serious leadership.

Man I’m not saying we should fire him this instant, but saying he’s “proven over and over that he knows how to win,” is ridiculous when he is 5-8 as a head coach, seven of those loses being blowouts, and the eighth being to Georgia State in his second year at TENNESSEE. I truly hope he can get it turned round but if you don’t seriously doubt that he can, you might not be paying attention. And I’m anything but a Negavol

I admire your enthusiasm and no, I didnt expect a "magical change" from hiring what by all accounts are coaches with great success elsehwere. I did expect, however, that they would actually IMPROVE. What I saw yesterday seemed like regression, a confused bunch with no heart, no fire and no game. Don't know how to square that with an entire offseason to prepare for the mighty Georgia State.

When? When has Pruitt ever proved that he can win without a roster of 4-5* players that someone else developed for him? One season at Florida State, Two seasons at Georgia, and then two seasons at Alabama, where it literally does not matter who the coordinator is as long as Saban is HC.

He came here with zero head coaching experience, after standing on the shoulders of others to achieve success as a defensive coordinator.

He's not a good coach. Good coaches do not have teams that come out in the home opener and play as poorly as we did yesterday. Good defensive coaches, do not have a defense on the field that gets demolished by a team like Georgia state.

OP doesn't get it. A team with ZERO 4 and 5* players came into our house and steamrolled us. UT has far more talent than GSU, but the complete lack of effort and emotion goes straight to coaching. What have we seen from Pruitt? No enthusiasm, emotionless, hohum, almost like he doesn't care. Teams take on the effort and attitude of their coaches.

I'm not saying CJP can't or won't get it done. I am saying that if he is ever going to get it done he might need to self evaluate where his effort and attitude is. It's hard to lead a team and coach them to be winners if the attitude is "the sun will come up tomorrow, so don't worry be happy" crap.
