The International Commission of Jurists published a report claiming that “sexual conduct involving persons below the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent to sex may be consensual in fact, if not in law.” According to the ICJ, “criminal law should reflect the rights and capacity of persons under 18 years of age to make decisions about engaging in consensual sexual conduct and their right to be heard in matters concerning them.”

This report was the result of a meeting with ICJ, UNAIDS, and the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Members of both UNAIDS and the pretentiously named Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights are among the “endorsers and supporters” listed in the report.

In summary, the U.N. thinks adults should be able to have sex with minors and that, at the very minimum, countries that set the age of consent at 18 years old should repeal it. It should also be noted that the U.N. has been at the center of various child sex abuse scandals, including 700 abuse complaints made against U.N. peacekeepers in Congo and a child sex ring in Haiti.

Solely reading the quoted part out of context, there is no way to conclude the bolded. It doesn't say anything about adults having sex with minors. It says minors having sex. Even if it did say adults, you have to admit that the law should allow wiggle room for an 18 YO who is dating a 17 YO.

Haven't watch this one yet...but from reading the release itself, it doesn't specify adult and those under 18. Not does it specifically say for sex between those under age can be consensual..it says that those under 18 can make decisions regarding sex etc...meaning to me that ad a long as someone under 18 consents they are fine with it...so an adult can get a 6 year old to "consent" per the UNs release and it shouldn't be criminal.

They aren't talking about pedophiles. They are talking about adolescents having the capacity to consent to sexual activity.

In the vast majority of US states the age of consent is 16. The minimum age of consent (the age at which consent can never be valid regardless of the age of the defendant) ranges from 10-18. The US has somewhat had the system advocated for in the report in place for many years.
