I was thinking if I could put to gether the ultimate coach for tennessee, who would it be. So I broke the coaching into 7 areas that are simply there for fun and came up with this...

1. x and o's- leach
2. recruiting- fulmer
3. intensity- gruden
4. public figure- joe pa
5. pre-game and halftime speeches- houston nutt
6. value system- mark richt
7. the look- cowher


What you got?

off the top of my head but mine is:

1. x and o's- Jim Tressel
2. recruiting- Pete Carroll
3. intensity- Tuberville or Les Miles
4. public figure- Joe Paterno
5. pre-game and halftime speeches- Nick Saban
6. value system- Urban Meyer
7. the look- Bill Cowher

How about this?

1. X and O's - Leach
2. Recruiting - Saban
3. Intensity - Jimmy Johnson
4. Public Figure - Joe Pa
5. Pre Game and Half-Time Speaches - Mike Ditka
6. Value System - Richt
7. The Look - Cower - For Sure

Then add this for promoting games:

Vol Navy docking at Neyland Stadium led by the newly built or acquired Pirate Ship. Cannons mounted outside the south end of the stadium facing the river. University of Tennessee Students, dressed as Pirates, leading the cheerleaders and the greatest team through the Power T to start the game. Could you imagine the excitement and electricity in a stadium filled with 109,000 Volunteer fans?

Actually, Gruden is my first choice, but if he is a definite no...Bring on the Pirate Captian. Ahoy yee mateys!!!! Go Vols!!!!

Why does everyone think Carroll is such a good recruiter? He isn't! How many 4 and 5 star recruits does California have each year compared to other states? If, you are one. Do you want to go to Cal, UCLA, or USC.....hmmmm....pretty much a no brainer!!!

13 of 16 of the current class is from California. USC has no 5 star commitments from anywhere but California. Also, California has 36 4 and 5 star recruits in California. In comparison, Tennessee has 4 !!!

As long as we're having fun with it, how about some twisted combination of

General Neyland, George Allen, Tony Dungy, John Wooden, Bill Parcells, Al Wilson, Payton Manning and yes, a little Bruce Pearl and Pat Summitt thrown in.

Hey Aaron, this is also fun if you do it in reverse and think of all the worst possible coaches to fit these criteria.

1. x and o's- Tommy Bowden
2. recruiting- Bobby Collins(SMU)
3. intensity- Mack Brown
4. public figure- Gary Barnett
5. pre-game and halftime speeches- Larry Coker
6. value system- Nick Saban/Bobby Petrino
7. the look- Fulmer
