Trump advisers waged covert influence campaign

Some of you kind of half-heartedly tried to suggest that the connection between Manafort and Russia was overblown.

What say ye now?

A firm run by Donald Trump's campaign chairman directly orchestrated a covert Washington lobbying operation on behalf of Ukraine's ruling political party, attempting to sway American public opinion in favor of the country's pro-Russian government, emails obtained by The Associated Press show. Paul Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, never disclosed their work as foreign agents as required under federal law. The lobbying included attempts to gain positive press coverage of Ukrainian officials in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Associated Press. Another goal: undercutting American public sympathy for the imprisoned rival of Ukraine's then-president. At the time, European and American leaders were pressuring Ukraine to free her.
Gates personally directed the work of two prominent Washington lobbying firms in the matter, the emails show. He worked for Manafort's political consulting firm at the time.

I think that the FBI needs to investigate Trump and his finances, and any linkage to Russia. There probably need to be some Congressional hearings on this, too.

Same for old hil-lie-ry. Don't care for rump, but, I will say he is in the private sector. Much different than someone in the domain of public servant. His dealings can at least have legitimacy, her's, well.......shouldn't have one iota or "smidgen" of any such thing, and she does.

I'm surprised by how lightly you dismiss this. I recall many comments during recent events about concerns that we were too soft on Russia. Trump is the ultimate threat on that.

Right after the hearings on Secretary of State selling favors for donations, and the countries involved are much worse than Russia.

I'm definitely in favor of an investigation. I don't think there's a chance in hell the democrats are going to push for one though, because most of the lobbying money went to the Podesta Group (as in John Podesta, Chairman of the Hillary Campaign).

Can someone explain to me why it would be bad for the USA to have a friendly and mutual beneficial relationship with Russia?

That's not what Putin wants. He wants to take over Ukraine and he wants to push NATO around, dominate them.

Trump has indicated he would concede Ukraine and would not defend NATO countries. He is heavily personally in debt to Russian banks and sources of cash.

People joked about Obama being a Secret Agent Muslim. I'm not saying Trump is a plant by the Russians, but he sure is sympathetic to their aggression and has indicated repeatedly a willingness to allow it.

I'm ok with Putin doing his thing in the Crimea. I mean it's not like we followed any of the treaties we signed with them after communism fell. If Russia owned Canada, you would want the President to do something about it. I see Putin's actions as reactionary to a US policy that has manipulated and taken advantage for the better part of two decades.

Your actually going to ask this after blowing off Clinton.

You're*

And I don't get your point, but what's new?

are you just dumb LG? How can you bring up trump and russia, when you have your boy hillary is basically charging every terrorist sponsoring country in the middle east for state dept favors. your boy hillary has funneled billions in her Godfather type slush fund, has caused the death of Americans and might have possibly help run guns to terrorists in syria. before you start with trump, why don't you look at your party son.

i hope you beat your communist gator team by 100. we need to do it for the south 1st then American 2nd.
