The "Thank You" Fulmer thread...

I think these people say it best:

DAVID CUTCLIFFE, DUKE HEAD COACH

"Obviously this is a very personal situation that happened today. Phillip Fulmer is one of the best friends I have in this world. I am saddened to see the end of a great era in college football. Not only is Phillip a great person, he is the best football coach I've ever been associated with. His work ethic, attention to detail and recruiting efforts were lessons for all of us who were fortunate enough to work alongisde him. I wish Phillip and his family the best as they move forward."

PAT SUMMITT, LADY VOLS BASKETBALL COACH

"My heart goes out to Phillip Fulmer and his family. He has been a great University of Tennessee man his entire life. No one has been more dedicated or passionate about Tennessee football and the athletics program overall as Phillip has. There have been countless young student-athletes to wear the orange jersey who have been shaped into great young men under his leadership. I've always considered Phillip, Vicky and the girls part of our big, extended Tennessee family. Throughout my career, he has always been supportive of Lady Vols basketball and been a great personal friend."

PEYTON MANNING, FORMER TENNESSEE QUARTERBACK

"Phillip Fulmer is the reason that I chose to come to Tennessee, and it was one of the greatest decisions I ever made," two-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning said. "I will always be indebted to him for the impact he has made on my life and my football career. I know I speak for hundreds of players when I say it was an honor to have played for him at UT. I am fortunate to have played four years for one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football."

Thanks Coach Fulmer, I'll be toasting you with old No7 ~ bigOG

Thanking him for what? Making 6 out of the last 8 years of Vol football painful to watch?

It's just football, he's still going to be a human being. He's gone, just accept it and move on. I hope no jackass behind a computer screen ever treats you like you're treating him. Maybe we'd all do good to remember he's a person first and a football coach second...not the other way around.

... I love Fulmer.. I really do and I hate that his tenure had to end this way. I think the announcement today was for the best for both parties. Thanks for the memories coach and best of luck wherever the road takes you.

I love you Phil, thank you so much for all the great memories and your life dedication to this great university..you are a true Volunteer

The press conference was painful to watch because of all the sadness in the room. His wife looked like she was ready to slap somebody. Wonder if CPF lands at Clemson? He may even go to Duke. Or, the new coach could ask him to stay in some capacity....recuiting co-ordinator would be awesome. Regardless, he will always be a great ambassador for UT.

That is what I would like to see....him staying on in some capacity. I know he has to do what is best for him and his family, but as much as we feel that this change was needed, I gotta admit that I am used to seeing him there.

I also want to say that I am proud to be a Vol for another reason, and that is the class that has been shown by the Vol Nation, even those who were calling for his firing all season long. With a few exceptions of one or two low-lifes, nearly every post on here has shown gratitude for all he has done for UT, and for the wonderful memories he has given us all. I've been on Gator boards before, and I can tell you that when it comes to true class, there is NO COMPARISON.

It's STILL great to be a Tennessee Vol!:good!:

There was a time when the only thing I wanted to see before I die was Tennessee to win the national title, and I could not ever repay Phil for making my dream come to life. We'll miss you Phil........best of luck at your next school.
