The Tennessee Vols commit that could start as a true freshman in 2021. Sometimes those highly rated players don’t contribute until they’re juniors or seniors. It all depends on development and how the depth chart looks.
There’s one 2021 Vols commit, however, that I believe is highly likely to either start as a true freshman or at least contribute in a big way.
Four-star defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson.
Last week, I touched on the incredible confidence that Wilcoxson possesses. And that’s part of the reason I think he’ll be able to have a big impact for Tennessee in 2021.,but it’s not the only reason.
Wilcoxson is a determined kid that wants to be great. His desire to get better every day and be an asset for the Vols has led to him working like he’s already on the team.

The Georgia native, who currently plays at IMG Academy in Florida, has spent a portion of his time during the coronavirus shutdown working out with a couple of current Tennessee players.
Wilcoxson, along with UT defensive backs Bryce Thompson and Trevon Flowers, has been working out in Atlanta with trainer Oliver Davis II.
Not only is Wilcoxson working to get better, but he’s doing it the Tennessee way.
According to The Athletic, Wilcoxson reached out to Vols defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley for a list of drills that Tennessee’s defensive backs go through in practice. Wilcoxson then passed those drills along to Davis to incorporate into the workouts.
The desire that Wilcoxson has to be great is extremely apparent. He eats, breathes and lives football.
“I don’t really watch TV anymore. I just watch film. If I leave the house, it’s usually to work out,” said Wilcoxson to the The Athletic.
I'm buying what this kid is selling. He's going to be hard to keep on the bench. Gonna be a shut down Ball Hawk
