Finally, we have a defense that is beginning to make some plays, that seems to play 60 minutes, and not lay down. It's a good thing, because our offense is not really capable of blowing out quality SEC teams as in years past. Just wanted to give credit to the powers that be who had made the defense respectable again.

Not sure if any of us thought that was likely to happen after the Oregon loss. Congrats to the defense.

What impresses me most is their ability to create Turnovers. Butch wasn't kidding when he said he was gonna to put together the best staff in America

More than D which IS getting better, is Butch's ability to control field position with special teams.
Keep them pinned down and let Worley stumble his way into a score.

The 3rd quarter scared me a little, but the boys hung around and pulled it out in the end. I'm so damn proud of team 117, it nearly brings me tears. No one deserves it as bad as they do. They stuck with UT through all the crap and now they have something to hang their hats on. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!

Now it's time to take that momentum and show all of the doubters exactly why the Vols are an SEC team.

Stumble? Check his stats vs. the "star" QBs he has faced for the past 2 weeks. You don't know wtf you are talking about.

We, as a collective, have become accustomed to missing that Palardy kick...to dropping that North catch...to putting 13 men on the field in a clutch situation..this is a new animal...Butch put a team on the field that beat another team that was more seasoned and a little more athletic...lot of negavols chasing their collective tails...and catching them...bon appetit

The secondary really did well. Shaws passing stats: 7/21 for 161yds 1 td, 1 int. A lot of sacks and qb runs were because no one was open. They got burned on the touchdown and made a few bad angles in run support but overall they shut down a Steve Spurrier passing offense.

Whad I say?

You hinted that Worley may get lucky at some point in the game. I, as well as many others , need to give the guy some credit. Worley has worked his tail off and is showing what Butch saw in him earlier.

The defensive line is where this defense has really improved--and without Couch and Saulsberry (who I don't think played today, did he?). Spurrier even mentioned our DL play. The DL play is noticeably stronger. We gave up about a significant amount of run yardage, but on the whole the group was strong and front four pressured the passer. We will need them to be good to have any chance against bama. Actually, if our passing game was better I would almost be hopeful against bama.

Poor choice of words. Not meant as a knock on Worley really.
Just seems , the defense and special teams are improving leaps and bounds while the offense just keeps stumbling along.
A few less 3 and outs would make it a lot easier on everyone.

Our defense still has holes and some talent deficiencies, but the product on the field is night and day different than last year.

Over all the defense played hard for 60 min, I just wish our secondary would not miss so many tackles and take wrong angles so often.....but we're getting better, no doubt
