Are you for the continued Republican push towards socialism and restricting the free market? Are you OK with CVS getting targeted because their locations and service suck? Are you for pie?

Thoughts??

Health care is not free market.

IDK, one of my wife's friends is pretty high up in the aforementioned PBM and she's said its a racket. She never really wanted to explain what she did for a living.

Im a smidge bit torn here.

Absolutely hate the optics of restricting choice and having a legislator try to legislate out a competitor.

But CVS absolutely sucks as a company. I hate them with a passion. They have failed audits about their reimbursements. They are screwing over taxpayers.

But with all that being said, Im against this bill...

Seems to me like a legitimate attempt to deal with what would appear to be an inherent conflict of interest.

All I know is that every time I buy something there; the printed receipt is responsible for wiping out several hundred acres of forest 😳

Just get a little uneasy when you go after vertical integration. Just think that's a slippery slope long term....

There's enough bad optics on both sides to go around here
I despise Caremark as it’s our healthcare PBM and I hate their obfuscation on drug costs. But I really don’t like seeing government meddle in this. As usual I expect there will be some unintended consequence that blows up in taxpayers faces.

CVS and government kickbacks are involved here. They are using scams to fleece customers and deeper what they get. They are bluffing about leaving Tennessee.

These mega-PBMs are ridiculous.

This cannot seriously be up for debate.

Self-funded health insurance plans are at the mercy of the PBMs. It's not about what costs less when you go to pick up your medicine. It is about what is billed back to the plan, and the fact that such charges have not been *drum roll* required to be revealed. So these PBMs can get you a good co-pay and deliver a crippling blow that you don't feel immediately.

Moho, you are a reader. Read the chapter on Pharmacy Benefit Managers in this book:

I'm pretty sure it's like a glorified used car salesman.

The Harshbargers are a bunch of con artists as well. The optics of them pushing this is as bad as CVS's vertical integration....

Both sides here have a long history of screwing over taxpayers/customers. The PBM model here is shady. No arguments.

Just think when govt gets involved here, they will create more problems than they will solve...

Government has been the worst way to solve just about any problem for my entire life. There are a few exceptions but not many that I can recall. I despise them more than ever.

Maybe addressing that conflict of interest just so happens to be a great business opportunity for the bill sponsor's family?

I agree with the general take. don't like PBMs but I don't trust the government to get it right, and really don't think this works out for the tax payers in the end.

I have never gotten a script at CVS, so I have nothing to go on, but are their drug costs noticeably different than other pharmacies?

It depends on the deal the PBM has on the particular drug and the insurance company. Our insurance company requires us to use CVS and my wife's thyroid medication is still cheaper to by at Walgreens outside of insurance.

I didn't even know we had a CVS
