The stronger your political stance, the harder it is to self-examine

I stopped dismissing it after reasoned through where we are headed with automation. It's going to be so cheap to cover our basic needs (outside of heavily regulated industries, like health care). Who is going to spend $400/month on a car (payment + gas + insurance + registration + maintenance) when you can get everywhere you want to be for $75/month in driverless uber cars? Wealthy people and people who love cars. Everybody else gets to convert their garage into another bedroom.
Obviously you guys didn't hear Trump loud and clear, "America will never be a socialist nation". 😁

You seriously, and I mean seriously, need to leave your neighborhood.

So, where is this I hop on my new uber ride in the 3 towns that I own a home? Not everyone lives in the big city, you know?

Let me guess. NYT, Wapo, HuffPo, Vox and Mother Jones

What is it with limited binary thinkers here?

Reuters, Associated Press, BBC World Service, and Christian Science Monitor.

I found both main parties' candidates to be equal disgusting this past election. Our system rewards the fringe.

I don't care for him, more dramatic on social media than my middle school daughter and her friends. That said, Hillary wasn't any better, and I find the meltdown of her cult hilarious. Neither the person I voted for in the primaries or general won, but I didn't need crayons and playdough to get over it.

I didn't like her either. Thankfully there were more than two choices on the ballot.

You might have a difficult time coping with reality over the next 2 years.

You're completely unaware of what is really happening.

It's not your fault - we've all been deceived.

This is an old graphic, but the point is still valid. A few companies control nearly 100% of the media.

You must have missed the part where I said which outlets I do generally get my information from, because they're none of these.

I've distrusted the American media for years, long before it was in fashion.

I'm glad to see VN isn't on that list.

WHEW! Dodged that bullet.

Who owns the outlets you listed?

Have you ever considered this?

The entire point is that the corporate media is inherently biased due to corporate ownership / sponsors.

Reuters is owned and operated by the Thomson Reuters corporation. Thomson Reuters sold its science research and intellectual property divisions to venture firms in order to afford to keep its journalism wing isolated and independent.

The Associated Press is a cooperative, unincorporated association contributed to by member news organizations throughout the US. Any items distributed by the AP must meet a strict set of News Values and Standards.

The BBC World Service is funded by the British government. I check their reporting against other sources as a matter of course.

The Christian Science Monitor is owned by the Church of Christ, Scientist, but operates as an individual entity. It was formed as a response to the yellow journalism of the early 1900s and has maintained a tight operational standard to maintain their reputation as independant and uninfluenced by external corporate interests.

People with extreme political views have trouble thinking about their own thinking

Interesting research. What if the people who appear to be dismissive of other political viewpoints and ignore verifiable information that goes against their beliefs are like this because they lack the ability to think about their own thinking?

There's also some interesting research that shows evidence that belief system lock-in, specifically regarding fundamentalist beliefs, may be linked to damage in the dorsolinear prefrontal cortex.

Which could explain why these hate hoaxes have taken place:

Twitter Explodes With ‘#HateHoax’ Posts Amid New Smollett Developments

Not saying only one side does this, It’s just one example that supports the point of your post. I think anyone that purports a hoax either way to further their political beliefs or agenda has a screw loose.
