Ok so I was right about one thing on Sat. if Clausen played the whole game we were gonna lose. But just because Jimmy was there Fulmer didnt have the balls to take him out even though he admitted that he considered putting Ainge in. I thought he was def. going to come in with 1:44 left to go, but Clausen came in and actually had a TD drive!!!(against the b squad :banghead: ). Nobody wants to listen when I say that our offense isnt getting it done and Clausen is not the answer and our defense cant carry us every time. The problem with RS is not always his play calling, its his damn play selection. Every time we run there's a safety blitz, everytime we pass theres safetys back hmmmmm......wonder if we are predictable.

Anyway Im really concerned about the football team that I love so much. Our team has been on a downward spiral ever since the championship and it really sucks. No wins against a top 10 team at home since 1999 (not to mention they were all blowouts). Worst offensive production since 1964. First team to win at Neyland 3 times in a row (EVER). This s*** is horrible.

Now its just going to get worse from here.

Lets see on defense we lose:
3 on our defensive line (maybe the whole defensive line if Justin Harrel leaves early I wouldnt blame him either with the way this team is playing). All three starting linebackers. Our best defensive player and the foundation of our secondary.

On offense we lose:
Half of our offensive line (maybe 3/4 if Sears leaves early).
2 starting WRs.
Our best HB in a while.

Brent couldve been the answere but he's gone. There's a reason why we won with Tee Martin. Its because scrambling qbs tend to use their ability to make plays on the run outside of the playbook. Especially when that playbook has been basically unchanged since World War II.

If there was a year we were gonna win another championship or even a SEC championship then this was it. Now next year we'll have the same problems on offense esp. if Fulmer doesnt let Ainge get some playing time,w/o a defense that can keep us in every game, w/o an everydown back that can take some heat off of our passing game. W/o an experienced offensive line that gives our qb time to tie his shoes. Hopefully Fulmer will realizes we have no chance this season and let some of our young players get some playing time to prepare for next year, otherwise it will be even worse.

Supposedly on Sat we had some highly touted recruits coming on a visit. My only question is after what they saw why on earth would they want to come here. The offensive players see players who could have gone to other schools and be stars, but are stuck in a system that is about as fun to watch as Clausen scrambling. The defensive players see a great defense that is consistently let down by the offense every year. Not to mention a great stadium that has become a second home for most teams who play us there. Neyland is no longer intimidating, and teams are no longer intimidated because they know what to expect from us every year. I just dont see how we are gonna be able to attract recruits to come here. Hopefully they will see something that I dont see because without some really good young players this program will continue to fall. Regardless there has to be MAJOR changes made to this coaching staff starting with Randy Sanders. Can someone tell me do we even have a recievers coach or a special teams coach??? We need something new to spark this team, or look forward to a lot of 6-5 seasons.

You have some great points. I agree with you. In order to be a winner, you have to surround yourself with winner's. That holds true in business and in coaching. Fulmer is affraid that someone else may steal his thunder. While I'm not in favor of a head coaching change, I do wish he would take the bull by the horns, and make some changes.

i'm ready for a head coaching change. fullmer is a great recruiter and a terrible coach and that is the fact. what is his record against the top 10. since 98 how many sec champs, how many bcs bowls. all good examples on why he should go.

ummmm....im pretty sure teams have beaten tennessee at neyland more than 3 times in a row. alabama beat us 11 times in a row before we came back and beat them in 1982.

i agree tvolsfan right now our crappy coaching is killing our recruiting. i think phil will be lucky to get a top 25 class this year.

We probably should see Ainge get some playing time in upcoming games. I think the starters were embarassed on Sat and they probably asked to stay in and take another shot at a TD. Just guessing???

the players should be emabarrased on the offensive side of the ball, but it isn't there fault. our coaches are giving us no chance to win against agood team. we had single coverage most of the first quarter and georgia daring us to throw the ball down field. what do we do run up tthe middle. our offense is the easiest to defend in the sec. our qb can't throw a pass 25 yards that's embarassing

You contradict yourself, and your depiction of our offense in the first quarter isn't accurate.

We attempted (and completed) a number of passes, even early on. It IS the fault of the players when poor passes are thrown, blocking assignments are blown, balls are dropped, fumbles occur, and we have countless stupid penalties, especially on the line AT HOME!!!

Yes, there is fault to be shared by the coaching -- especially on special teams and the game plan (and/or QB coaching/selection). But the players fell flat on their faces, as well.

what are people going to be saying if we lose to Alabama, Florida , & Georgia in the same year?

Time for some coaching changes..Need coaches who develop talent..I don't believe some of the coaches on our staff are able.

I was thinking that too until I remembered that injuries absolutely destryoed us that year and that was the common excuse.

Other than losing Allen, which was big, we don't have that one this time.

Is anyone else tired of those? I haven't heard any good ones, yet, for this year. Anyone? Anyone?

*whispers*

We really need to remember that it is just a game. We could be dealing with hurricane damage, earthquakes, terrorists and all manner of things. Thank goodness it's JUST that our football team lost a GAME.

LIO, you know how you like to correct spelling. Would you pay somone two million dollars a year to teach children to spell correctly and then not get frustrated when they continue to teach the children to spell the same word wrong?...for 7 years? And then, they make a different excuse for misspelling the word each year, and you see class after class failing to reach thier potential. Don't we owe it to our student athletes to make sure they reach thier potential? Don't we have the right to hold those responsible accountable? If we don't protest, don't we just enable them to continue. Support makes a thing stronger, but dont ask me to support a shack that needs to be torn down, rebuilt, or replaced. (I always have a problem with THIER, THEY'RE, THERE etc).

TBV, I know where you're coming from, I swear I do. BUT.....spelling and grammar affect a person's life. This football team will affect a few seasons and move on. I remember 2002. I thought I would NEVER get over the disappointment of that season. Ranked #5 preseason and not even in the top 25 at the end? But I DID get over it and life went on, just as life will go on if we lose every game from here on out. Football is entertainment, nothing more. That's all I'm trying to say.
