Interesting story in today's News Sentinel about the Mississippi flag issue and it will take someone like John Grisham along with the coaches to make change possible.

I wasn’t aware that the flag hasn’t been flown on Mississippi State or Ole Miss’ campus since 2016. I would be surprised if it weren’t changed relatively soon.
Re-name Washington DC. Now!
‘Ole George owned slaves!

Give it time. It will come.
It better.

If the protesters are going to go after some, they need to go after ALL of them. Not just “southern” ones. Lincoln said the “n..word” and wanted all blacks deported to Africa. Take his a$$ off the $5 and spray paint the Lincoln Memorial.

just think of all the folks with 'Washington' and 'Jefferson' surnames having to change their names...oh yeah, city, street and automobile names must be changed as well....I'm sure the Ford family owned slaves way back when...let's make America neutral for all!

I don’t have a problem with him taking issue with the Mississippi flag. That’s his prerogative. I question his timing and the fact he’s going to leave his teammates before his Senior year for something that he apparently wasn’t that outspoken about until now . I think he might be a bit ambitious here, unless he thinks he going to start an avalanche where all the players follow suit.
Yep. I get why he (and others) don't like the flag, but it seems like a pile on thing at this point. Did he really not know until now?

I think the current climate helped give him a comfortable platform to make change.
I’ll say that he helped get this changed and he should be proud for bringing people together. IMO things like this where people can come together for a common good have been rare recently and should be applauded. I’ve been hesitant about the amount of power gained by student athletes in recent weeks because I believe by in large that most 18-22 year olds are not very mature and are doing things because they want to get likes or see how far they can push the envelope like a Texas or other places. I’m not an overreactive person and I typically don’t care for overreactive actions, therefore I haven’t agreed with a lot of what’s been going on to a certain degree. I think some of the cancel culture garbage is useless, like Aunt Jemima or anything like that that really does nothing but build up more unnecessary divisiveness. I think this is real and something that people will point to as a positive change when looking back at this. So good for Hill and for Mississippi.

The civil war wasn't about slavery, it was about States Rights. It was about unfair taxation on some of the southern states farming interests.
We have a bunch of rabble rousers today that keeps making racial relations worse. Murder is murder no matter what color your skin is. Injustices shouldn't happen to anyone! Destroying and politicizing it will only make matters worse, not better.

Proverbs 26:20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

When the news won't shut up about it, it keeps those emotions heated and people angry. I say let's let our justice system do it's job and if they don't, let's vote them out of office and get someone that will.

For some states, yes, States Rights were the main issue. Based on their “Article of Secession”, the primary issue for Mississippi was in fact slavery.

I do agree with the premise of your post (Proverbs 26:20). Politicians and media took an issue (George Floyd) everyone agreed on, and turned it into something that divided us. Division is a VERY powerful political tool. There are definitely unfair racial stereotypes and inequalities in society. We could all be having positive discussions and working together to help change it but instead the divide widens.

I am aware that slavery was on the table and the implications it meant for southern farming in that day. I remind you that there were many slave owners in the north as well.
I do know this much, our country is being torn apart right before our very eyes. Every single person on this planet is someone whom God loves and Jesus died for. We all have the family roots if you go back far enough. Noah and Adam are common ancestors of us all. No one should have special rights above or below anyone else.
No one today in America are slave owners and there are no legal slaves today in this great land.
To erase our history is a terrible mistake and it would be stupid to try and change it from anything but the truth.
What I am trying to say is we need unity in our country or our enemies will surely take full opportunity of our division.
I believe that we are watching a communist or socialist takeover of our country before our very eyes. I don't think we want what Venezuela, North Korea or China has.
