The single most important thing for me about Kiffin...

The blocked kick at UGA the year before that was very nice as well. I love that cover of SI.

Aside from 2004 UF, that is the best game I have ever attended. Georgia owned us in the first half, but we came roaring back and scored 30 something points in the second half to win easily. After the game, some UGA fan was heckling my friend who had worn solid orange coveralls to the game saying something like "You look like some inmate who ought to be cleaning trash up off the side of the highway." To which my friend responded "Yeah, we sure cleaned your s*** out tonight!!" Ah, good times, hopefully they'll be returning soon enough.

Agreed. Swagger is one good way to put it. But to me it's just that Kiffin values the bottom line while Fulmer was the last holdover from the good ol' boy system.

...a little time, this is not going to be an overnight fix.

But seriously, I agree with most posters...confidence in self is huge factor in anyone's success in any field.

2004 was the last time I thought the VOLS looked confident coming onto the field.
I thought 2006 was a decent year as far as swagger goes, the games we lost in '06 were close games...We had the eventual National Champs beat until a phantom roughing the passer call that got a pick 6 called back that cost us the game...I agree thought towards the end of it all Fulmer played more not to lose than to win and there is a huge difference....I believe we will see that difference with Kiffin

True enough. I personally felt the '06 team was better than the '07 team that backed it's way into ATL. If not for Ainge getting hurt, that team had an outside shot at a BCS Bowl. The only game they were never truly in was the Arky game, and I don't think Ainge would have made a difference. McFadden and Jones just made our defense look silly that night.

We needed a coach who doesn't care about other coaches feelings. Meyer and Saban could care less what the media or other coaches think about them. They want the other teams throat in every aspect. I think Kiffin is the same way and we'll love him for that.

Yeah absolutely....And I know who I will sound like saying this but we were a blown fumble call away from beating LSU in Neyland....Crompton played good that game, but then again if I had Robert MEachem to throw to he could make me look good too lol...I thought the 07 team towards the end of the year showed a lot of improvement especially on the defensive side of the ball and I think we should have beaten LSU in the SECCG but oh well...The 06 team was better than the team in 07 we just didnt catch the break....Its nothing personal in the least bit against Fulmer cuz he is a helluva guy, I saw him at the grocery store up here in Gatlinburg the other day and he talked to me like he knew me his whole life, but his philosophy of playing not to lose instead of playing to win, I won't miss a bit

Kiffin had better back down to Meyer, Tebow, and the Gators because they will destroy every team on their schedule next year, kind of like they did the last half of this year. I really hope your beloved kiffin doesn't expect to go in the swamp and win, because it just isn't gonna happen.

It's probably going to be a long shot that we take down the Gators next year in the Swamp. At least we can hang our hats on knowing we've done it in the past, so surely it will happen again in the future. USCe, not so much, you guys are 0-12 in Gainesville, and that's not likely to change anytime soon.

Kiffin hates to lose at anything.
I think that will be a huge difference. I am sure PF did't like to lose but there is a big difference between "not liking" and hating.

i have to agree with this. i still feel that after Fully held up the crystal trophy, he became immune to the agony of defeat. i know he threw his hat down and cursed a few times, these last couple of years, but watching Nick Saban, while getting pumped by Utah, that guy had some evil in his eyes. i like that.

How bad did UF beat USCe, 56-6 I do believe, did ya'll even get off the bus in Gainseville? And on top of that you guys have beaten us twice in the last how many years? Yeah I would talk trash to a team that's owned me for the past decade or two

Yeah, this defeatist attitude tastes just like chicken. You've grown used to it over the years, so while sad, it's understandable.

It's possible to be confident without assuring a victory. If I ever hear Kiffin saying something like, "Well, we all know we're not going to beat Florida in Gainesville, so we'll just back down and resign ourselves to a loss," I'll flip.

Ditto that!!! To say that every coach doesn't go into a game expecting to win is ridiculous, Kiffin expects to go into the Swamp and beat Florida just like he expects to go into every game this year and win, that doesn't mean that we will...I agree if he said "Well, guys I just want to go down and spend my day on the golf course and hope we compete Saturday against Florida and I'll be happy" I would be highly disappointed

well I feel same way, but the comment he made at his press conference the day he was hired made me wonder. Something about singing Rocky Top all night after beating Florida, then he said Urban that was Mike (Hamiltons) idea for me to say that.

But I really think he was just tryin not to be too cocky, He will be amped up when gametime comes. Revenge game against UCLA then Swamp time, Ruin Tebows Senior season early how fun will that be? GO VOLS

Hate to be a negative person, but anyone who thinks we can beat Florida in the swamp next year is crazy.

I don't think any reasonable Vols fan has actually predicted a win next season against Florida. Based on what we've seen from both teams in the recent past, nothing suggests that Tennessee will have a fighting chance.

That's not the point, though. To suggest that CLK should formulate a game plan based on an expectation of losing is ludicrous. A good coach will never, ever do anything of the sort, so I don't expect that from Lane. After all, if we pull out a victory in Gainesville, it won't be the craziest thing that's ever happened in college football. We CAN win, but that certainly doesn't mean we WILL win.

Nothing would do my heart better than to watch Tebow go down his senior season in a blaze of glory LOL....Then I wouldnt' have to listen to all my cocky friends that are Gators
