Is the fact that for the first time in over 15 years, I have a feeling that our head coach will go into the Swamp, and onto the field at Neyland vs. the Gators with some swagger... :pepper:

The guy just doesn't seem to back down to anyone! :dance2:

For far too long, I watched our coach trot out there with his tail between his legs before the kickoff!

I think the only thing fulmer looked forward to, was getting to explain to the hot sideline reporter why he was getting his ass beat as he headed into the locker room...

Note:
The only exception to this was the 2001 game, which I was at-- and to this day is the most awesome game I've ever been to. (Followed Closely by the '98 Florida, and '98 Arkansas games)

If their was a list compiled as being 1-20.

The comment "This guy doesn't seem to back down from anyone".Would be the only one to make the cut for being important to me.

But to each his own.

GO VOLS.

I must have missed that.

i don't necessarily agree with you that fulmer had his tail between his legs, but my opinion differs from the majority.

i will say, however, that before fulmer became the HC, we wanted a coach who would walk out onto the field against ALABAMA with some swagger.

i agree that he came up short against florida far too many times, but he owned alabama, and at the time of him being named HC, alabama is the team that mattered most.

i hope kiffin can do the same thing with florida, but hopefully it doesn't lead to alabama to start beating us every year again.

I'm looking forward to having a staff than I feel can go toe to toe with any in the nation, from recruiting in living rooms in January to the field in September/October.

It will be nice going into the florida game not feeling like we're already 10 points down due to a stodgy, non-innovative coaching staff that does not utilize players to the best of their ability.

Well when the rest of Fulmer bunch graduates or leaves then We will see a new attitude get installed here and more swagger...Been awhile since We have seen a UT team walk out on the field at Ben Griffin stadium BELIEVING they were going to win the game...Can't wait to see that come back.

I think you'll see more attitude out of the current bunch next year. Things had gotten too passive. Thats changing in a hurry.

This is exactly what I was trying to say...

Think it's a cooncidence that I wholeheartedly agree with VOLnMiami? I wonder why... :)

That's how I feel before every game vs a favored opponent---UGA/UF/Bama

I feel like our guys will need a pick-6 or a special teams TD and near perfect football to win. I hate thinking "if we could just do this...if would could get this happen...if we could just recover a fumble inside their 20 maybe we win today"

I want the team to be fired up and to have confidence that doesn't dissipate after the other team's first touchdown.

I'm with you I can't remember the last time UT returned a kick for a TD or blocked a kick at critical moment. For far too long the players have mailed it in once they got behind minus LSU in 05.

i have noticed the teams lack of intensity coming onto the field for a couple years now. i see other teams across the entire country jumpin and popping pads and slappin helmets and then we come out holding hands walking acting indifferent to the whole situation. i would like to see us come out and intimidate the other team once in a while. a lil energy and emotion is enough to win games in college.

I just want other teams to be afraod to come to Neyland again...No more loses to Memphis or Wyoming at home...Fear Neyland once again!!!

Lane, Monte, and Coach O needs to start getting in Urban's head now. Start prank callin him, and before the game let O break his hand when he shakes it and tell him were about to be so far up his a#@ when I spit its gonna come out your mouth!:furious3:

Kiffin hates to lose at anything.
I think that will be a huge difference. I am sure PF did't like to lose but there is a big difference between "not liking" and hating.

were beat by florida before they even walked on the field--which is why the gators usually have us beat by the end of the first quarter.

CPF played not to loose instead of playing to win
that was one of his biggest problems.

Agree about the kick return thing, but they did block that field goal in OT against UK a couple seasons ago, after which a quirk in the rule book led to UK not being penalized for nearly pulling Eric Berry's head off.

Hopefully he smacks that grin off of Meyer's face

...a little time, this is not going to be an overnight fix.

But seriously, I agree with most posters...confidence in self is huge factor in anyone's success in any field.

2004 was the last time I thought the VOLS looked confident coming onto the field.

The blocked kick at UGA the year before that was very nice as well. I love that cover of SI.
