1. Another fabulous home win. It's always good to send the home folks to their cars happy.
2. Having to win it at the end is better than waltzing as they did for the first 25 minutes. Game pressure gets you ready to play one and done.
3. Anyone who wonders why Scotty Hopson is so maddening need only watch the sequence at 67-65. He goes up soft and gets a shot blocked by Darius Miller, then drills the knockout 3.
4. John Wall and Eric Bledsoe put up decent numbers, but Bobby Maze and Melvin Goins held their own with them. UT killed Wall and Bledsoe with those little inside exchanges in the first half.
5. That's JP Prince's best game at UT. He was the best player on the floor all day.
6. Wayne Chism and Brian Williams did an excellent job against Demarcus Cousins. Take away the leakout hoops and he wasn't a huge factor.
7. Both teams need to worry less about the officials. Each lost their composure and gave the other team a run by sulking.
8. Two wins next week might well give Tennessee the kind of seed that would make their survival to the seond weekend of the NCAA Tournament likely.
9. Kentucky got back into the game because Tennessee got tentative with the ball. You protect a lead on offense.
10. Can we please dispense with the cheap middle school wretling show pyro during Jaqui Pearl's anthems? She does a good job and that stuff just looks cheap.

Good point about going out and having to win the game in the final 2 minutes, vs. waltzing to the win. Nice job, Vols....remember it.

So Hat, do you still feel Bruce doesn't consistently outcoach Calipari? We've had better talent than them exactly one time over the course of their meetings, and Bruce consistently does exactly what he did today and what he did the first 32 minutes at Kentucky.

I just wish WWW would cut Calipari off so we'd see him without two first rounders every year.

2. Yeah, that is nice when you actually win it! Whew. It was a lot closer than the final score.

Exactly what part of Pearl's strategic brilliance caused UK to miss 8 shots within 5 feet in the first half? Also, who made the brilliant decision to hold the ball and kill UT's offensive rythm?

How many first rounders did he have on the UMASS team that went to the Final Four?

Pearl didn't adjust for about 13 minutes or so in the 2nd half, and that almost proved disastrous for this squad today. With that said, the score early or late strategy in the 1st half gave them the lead that overcame his lack of later adjustment, it seems to me. Pearl is not a god, and is annoying as can be at times.....but he didn't prepare a horrible game today.

Wait, wasn't Camby a first rounder?
That's one. Titanic is babbling about Cal always having a bunch of future pros. Remind me how many NBA seasons Carmelo Traveiso and Edgar Paddilla played.

Wait, wasn't Camby a first rounder?

Yes, and Treviso was a great college guard. I'm not saying Calipari isn't a great coach, and even a better coach than Bruce. What I am saying is that if UK with Calipari at the helm is going to be our biggest rival, that is not so terrible for us. Bruce can handle Cal. He has shown it consistently, and with less talent. I mentioned that to Hat before and he said it wasn't so, but I don't think anyone can look at the rosters and the current record between the two and say otherwise. Bruce, for all his faults, generally owns Billy D and can hang with Cal. That's a pretty good place to be for a team in the SEC east.

And Hat I'm perfectly willing to change my statement to "two first rounders and/or the first overall pick and other quality collegians". Will that make you feel better?

Bruce Pearl is a damn good basketball coach. period. Cal has had two final fours vacated and is attached at the hip with the personification of all that is wrong with college basketball. I know which one I would rather root for.

Cal is going to give us serious heartburn at UK...anyone that doesn't believe that needs only to look at the current SEC standings.

Take any of Pearl's previous four teams against the current UK team and we're right there with them in the standings. This team is a trainwreck and we still split with them.
