1. In a nation filled with awful officials, Bruce Benedict is a standout in that respect. As bad as he was for the Braves, he's even more useless in a striped shirt with a whistle.
2. I said it when we played them last year: Robert Lee is an awful coach. Lafayette shows no evidence of having been coached.
3. UL-L's post players were almost as bad as UT Martin's. Their guards will develop back problems carrying that bad weight.
4. Nothing fabulous in UT's effort. Good enough to beat a mediocre midmajor, but not close to the level of play needed to win the next two games.
5. Temple has parlayed its victory over UT into absolutely nothing. They have regressed at a rapid pace.
6. I'm glad UT got Georgetown when they did. A rematch would not be promising.
7. Memphis and Cincinnati have commited an atrocity against the game tonight. The Tigers offense is so inefficient that one would think Jonathan Crompton is playing point guard.
8. Any perimeter player with decent offensive skills has to watch Tennessee and say, "I could get 25 on those guys." It's just not good.
9. In the lockerroom after the Drexel game last Monday, John Calipari bemoaned having to take the verbal whip to his team constantly. I bet Bruce Pearl has similar feelings.
10. People expecting this team to make significant improvement the rest of the year are going to be disappointed. At some point, you realize that a team is what you see on the floor and not what you hope they can be.

I expect the dismal three-point shooting to get a bit better as the season progresses, but do you think, Hat, that there's honestly no hope of the perimeter defense, clearly the team's biggest weakness, making ANY progress during conference play?

Quoted for Cardassian and Dickens. For clarification - when I said Georgetown would "spank" Tennessee if they played again at this time doesn't mean I don't give Tennessee any shot at all. Just saying they are easily the better team right now.

I've seen nothing to indicate they will make noticeable progress. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Marcus Thorton, Jodie Meeks, or Nick Calathes hang 45 on them.

Well I wouldn't be surprised to see Meeks hang 45 on anyone if he and PP continue to be the only two players to shoot the ball for UK - but I get your point - Thornton could definitely do it against our perimeter defense.. which isn't good.. at all.

"They're not saying 'Boo!' They're saying 'Bruuuuuce!'"

"No, hold on. They ARE saying 'Boo!'"

What are you thinking for the next 5 games? 2-3 appears likely to me.

Is that the guy who called a foul on Williams for getting a rebound?

all 3 of those teams are struggling as bad as we are right now.. kentucky absolutely sucks

Is that why they defeated West Virginia? I'm not saying they're better than us, but you have to take Meeks and Patterson seriously. They nearly beat us at home last year without both.

Meeks scares me with the way were playing perimeter d. He could go for 30 if we're not careful.
