Does anyone really believe that Gerald Riggs Jr. is gonna have a big year? If some of the freshmen don't come through the running game will definetly sputter.

I think he should have a solid year - (1500 + yds) if he stays healthy. the key this year is that the pass threat will open up the run for us. We jut have to use that to our advantage.

I think we are in Great shape at RB. I know we don't have alot of experience behind Riggs Jr, but I am really looking forward to seeing what Foster, Hardesty, and Williams bring to the table. Yancy is an ok RB, but The young guys just seem to me to be ready to just explode onto the scene. Coker will see action but I think he is going to see it on the KO return team. JMO After seeing Anderson line up at TB in the practice on Wednesday I would like to see him take that Jabari Davis role and line up at TB inside the 5. (But, that does somewhat take away the fake to the TB, toss it to the FB play Corey has ran so well).
I think if the Vols play the style of play the O Line is capable of we could see 1 back go for 1300+, and 2-3 hit the 500 mark or more. :yahoo:

Anderson is a HOSS. I look forward to watching him play. I anxious to see what Hardesty looks like. From what I've read he seems to be the real deal.

I really don't think he's mature enough to handle the hype.  He's gonna fold.

Couldn't DISagree more.

Riggs will finish the season averaging well over a hundred yards a game if he stays healthy, and will have a game or two where he breaks things wide open with a 150-200 yard performance and a couple of long runs.

Only other variable would be injuries in the O-line.

So. you come on to UT boards, say things like this without any explanation.

He's done nothing but stay in the doghouse the whole time he's been in Knoxville. I don't think he deserves to be known as one of the great backs in UT history

???? Come again?

Who is coming up with this crap? Last I checked, Riggs has just become the starting tailback and will earn his accolades this year, if they are to be had.

I sense an ulterior motive behind these posts.

Good thing your opinion matters no more than it does. He deserves to be known for whatever contribution he may or may not give on the field. I take it Jacksonian is just a misspelling of Jacksonvillian?

We'll see soon enough.

The system Fulmer employees demands that a second back must be successful for the offense to be great.

Our backups are looking great. Foster will get a lot of carries in mop-up duty as well as the relief back and as it looks now, Hardesty will push Foster to share in those duties.

If our line stays healthy Riggs will set a new rushing record for the single season.

If he does then we will be in a position to win every game.

I have to seriously question any poster who would make this topic their very first post. :bad:

What has Riggs done to fool you guys? Was it the big game against Auburn? I really don't think he's capable of handling the pressure. I would love to be proven wrong but I just don't think I will.

I think he shows a lot of promise - you can tell he has changed since Trooper got a hold of him and now that ne is the clear front runner he is taking charge like he needs to. From watching the practice vid's helloks to be in great shape and moving very well - almost seems like he is a little quicker on the first step than he has been.

Ummm that's part of it I guess. In case you didn't notice, Auburns defense was pretty good last year and Riggs burned them. It's a good thing he did too or that game wouldn't have been as close as it was.

I guess part of me is eager to see one of the Freshmen step into the starting role. I remember what it was like Jamal's freshman year and that was a fun time for Tennessee football. Like I said earlier I hope Riggs proves me wrong. We all know Tennessee has to have a succesful running game in order to win consistently

Maybe it was the 1,000 yards he had in a BACK-UP ROLE last season.

Maybe it was the proof that he has matured, by being able to play in that back-up role, and be successful.

Maybe it was him doing what he needed to do this summer to become eligible and be this team's leader at RB.

Well, I'm not surprised some of the younger people didn't pick up on this, but I am surprised OldVol didn't.

Look at the guy's name. "Jacksonian"

Jacksonian's are, in public controversies, the side that is always giving you reasons why something can't be done, and is endlessly telling you that the popular view isn't sufficiently "sophisticated" or "nuanced".

The Jacksonians are inherently "pessimistic", they believe in conspiracy theories and fear international arrangements, all of which, they believe, are aimed at shafting them.

Finally, although they have a coarse and sometimes even bawdy subculture of sex, drink, and honky tonk, the Jacksonians are virtually 100 percent Christian. And so, after a wild Saturday night, they are often found in church the next morning, hung over or not.

So basiclly, his thoughts and replies don't surprise me.
