1. John Brady is the college basketball equivalent of Wayne Fontes. Just when you think his detractors have the advantage, he rallies his troops. 2. The ACC tournament is a complete bloodbath. Ticket scalpers are jumping off bridges in St. Pete after all of the upsets. 3. It's comforting to know some things never change. Steve Fisher is still an absolutely abysmal basketball coach. 4. Officiating here in the west is awful. I can't come up with words to adequately describe the incompetence I observed today. 5. If Air Force makes the NCAA tournament, bet every dollar you can get that they will go out immediately. They will lose in the first round of the NIT, if relegated to that tournament. 6. Interesting game for tomorrow. Bob Knight's Red Raiders vs. Bob Huggins's Wildcats in a game with big time tournament implications. 7. The Michigan-Minnesota game may have been the worst of all time. If Michigan retains Tommy Ammaker, they should make basketball a club sport. 8. The UNLV Dance Team did the most, shall we say, risque routine I've ever seen. I was waiting for Pac Man Jones to show up and "Make It Rain." 9. Anyone who thinks bad officiating doesn't have huge consequences, needs to watch the Louisville-West Virginia highlights. A horribly blown walk call at the end of regulation probably cost West Virginia an NCAA bid. 10. I would like to personally thank Pokey Chapman. I no longer have to rip the level of play in the women's game to discredit the product, I'll just let incidents like this speak for themselves.

Is it time for the NCAA to move toward having professional officials? I really think officiating is getting worse every year in both football and basketball.

I think that would be an interesting move. I don't think I've seen so many poorly officiated games as I have this year and I'm not just talking about Tennessee games.

I wonder in that UNLV routine is on youtube...but I digress, I agree with your take on Brady, I keep waiting for him to blow up and he manages to hang on time after time. As far as Pokey is concerned, dont you find her name ironic considering her sexual orientation?

I agree completely. Div I major college sports have so much on the line that I think better officating in general is desperately needed.

Having said that, professional officials near the end of regulation last night would have just made it a closer, and earlier, loss for us still. Of course, Davis wouldn't have gotten a 3-point play earlier either.

Who knows, I suppose all this badness evens out somewhere along the way.

That travel no call on LSU that was so obvious late in the game, put to rest any glimmer of hope we had of hanging on.

I've always wondered why officials have never been busted for throwing games the way players have been.

although I think the officiating in the game was a little bit lopsided, I don't think the officials threw the game...if so, they would have never called a charge against LSU, in a tie game, to give UT the ball and final shot with 7 seconds to go.

In my opinion, the final charge called was a make-up call for a legitimate charge that happened a minute or so earlier. Davis absolutely mauled Duke Crews along the baseline, after Duke had established position a good second or more prior to contact. They called a blocking foul on Crews and gave Davis 1 plus the basket.

It would be so nice (for all teams) if the SEC could find decent refs.

1. I would say that Brady is more like Steve Spurrier because he is hated by most outside of LSU fans but I guess the same can be said about Bruce Pearl.
2. I love the ACC tournnament upsets. Hopefully Carolina is next.
5. Air Force has NO business in the big dance.
8. Im suprized PAC MAN didnt "Make It Rain"
9. That call was bad. He picked up his dribble at the foul line and dodged 2 defenders and took 5 steps to the basket.
10. Well said.

I hate to be the first to Spurrier's defense...but, if Spurrier had a football team with as much talent as Brady's basketball team has, there's no way he'd win less than a third of his conference games.

I agree completely. I was just comparing their manurisms and the way the Vols fan base hates both of them.
