the refs

The refs are completely for tennessee. this is amazing. something needs to be done about this.

That's freaking crazy. I don't even want to tell you how many holding calls they missed against SC. Do they even teach the OL technique at SC or is it just a how to hold and get away with it type thing?

They weren't really watching for holding, it seemed. I saw some seemingly blatant holds on our DT's in the first half.

Chris Brown made contact with a defender and next thing you know the refs threw a flag and said he pushed off.

Oh is that what happened? I couldn't figure out for the life of me how it's offensive PI when nobody is within 10 yards of him.

Its been that way for defenders for a while now, but it seems impossible for an offensive player.

Actually, in that 2006 UF/UT game, UF had 2 two calls go against them, 1 for a TD and the trip on Colquitt was uncalled. Our called back TD was bad, but UF had a TD taken away on an awful call

It seems like I heard somewhere that Colquitt's trip wasn't illegal. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I, uh, tripping?

yeah...and if you guys were good enough you should've stopped a struggling second half tennessee offense from getting within field goal range in the 1:30 of the game.

You have noone to blame but yourself...now take your 4th place a$$ out of here

Why are you responding to me? I'm a Vol fan.

Defensive PI starts when the ball is thrown, offensive PI starts at the snap.

But doesn't that eliminate the idea of a play action pass? How would Chris Brown be allowed to down block then run a route? By what your saying that would make it illegal, but that is what happens with a play action, even with WRs.

I read the rule book, and you are correct. I think when there is a play action the refs usually don't make that PI call because it is very common for offensive players to not just fake the block, but engage the defender then run off into their route. The officals could consider the initial block by the tight end to be behind the line of scrimmage, making it legal.

Brown ran out made a spin move, his hands were on the defender but it didn't look like he pushed the guy. Ticky tack foul.

Yeah, I am watching the game again on CSS. THe first offense series for UT was 3 running plays. The next two series was killed by penalties.

The same set of downs that the call was made on Brown, on 3rd down the db had his hands all over the face and arms of the wr before the catch. The 4th and 3 on the next play to start the 4th quarter, Ainge throw it at the endzone. The db was holding the arm of the wr for before the catch. When the WR is trying to catch with one arm, that should be an easy call.

different year, same excuses. you gamecocks will never change.

at least the gamecocks that went up to the game with our group offered no excuses. we all griped about sloppy play by our respective teams.
