Reagan Republican here. The Reagan Doctrine of providing weapons to countries to fight against communist tyranny and for liberty and democracy should be the cornerstone of our foreign policy. Reagan knew the danger of appeasement in all forms. He also knew the benefit of a clear and coherent foreign policy. Reagan called out on the world stage the dangers of evil empires.

I would be happy to debate the finer points of Reagan's policies to correct the errors of your thinking. (Assuming the moderators don't move or delete this thread)

That’s why I don’t spend a lot of time complaining about the war in Ukraine.

Ronnie wasn't the first or even the tenth to provide military aid to the enemies of our enemies so I wouldn't put his name on the practice. We've done that worldwide habitually post WWII overtly and covertly and we were changing governments in Latin America long before then.
It's nice to think that we do that because we care about other peoples' liberty, democracy, and all that but there's not much evidence to support it. Our allies have often been as or more repressive than our foes. It's all about supply chains and markets.

Reagan fought the enemies outside our borders. The foxes are well established in the hen house now.
Reagan repeatedly said we are one generation away from Socialism, which began in earnest under Obama. Reagan knew the danger and evil of making Americans dependent on government. It creates a permanent underclass that harms those it seeks to help.

Reagan was a life long anti-communist. He recognized publicly the prisoners of conscience held in brutal conditions by our enemies. He championed aind suppoed the birth of freedom across Europe, which saw the end of the Berlin wall and a resurgence of Christianity behind the Iron curtain.

So, what you are saying is the U.S. should get out of NATO and Europe.

Sending people to die in the Ukraine which is what you have been advancing seems like evil empire ****. Your takes in the Ukraine thread are not only complete fiction, they appear to have evil intent.

Reagan actually only assisted in building up NATO, as far as actually doing a whole bunch for other countries.... not so much. But VP Bush and sons decided to go behind his back to overthrow South and Central American countries by arming terrorists, the arms were purchased from drugs the Bush's were importing. Than on the flip side Reagan was running his Just Say No Drugs bit and was throwing the people in jail in the U.S. that were buying those same drugs.

The bad guys are already here, just like Europe.

I'm not an isolationist, but I am all for getting... kicking... the UN out of the US. NATO should be held at arm's length, until those nations we are spending trillions on start to pony up their fair share. Thanks to President Trump, they have started to do so.

It was the Socialists (Obama/Biden) that let the foxes into our hen house. It will take decades to clean up their mess.

The enemy is already here. Europe will collapse, the enemy was let right through the front gate. As far as other countries, as long as they treat us good, how they run things is on them. I have no problems with the Vietnamese, they're on our friends list now because what was sold to the American citizens was a lie.

Agree with your last point for sure.
