The only thing the prevent defense prevents is victory. If you give an SEC quality QB all the time he needs, he will find someone open. The one thing a QB cannot do is complete a pass lying on his back or with a linebacker around his neck. I thought the prevent defense would wreck us. Blitzing the QB was the answer and won the game!

You give a guy 5 seconds instead of 2.. That's a lot more time to find a guy.. I think it's alright if you're up by 3 scores to eat clock. I wouldn't use it at any other time. After that 4th and 24 conversion I thought for sure they'd March on down there and stick the dagger in.. Credit to UT's defense for having none of it..

we play too much zone. I assume its because we don’t have enough lock down corners, but it’s very frustrating to watch Qbs throw all over us.

I don’t think it was prevent as much as a bad matchup. Their O was tailor made for our D. They have a good O-line and RB’s who run with authority and an average QB who is good enough. We couldn’t blitz or play straight pass because of the run game but couldn’t live in the box because the QB could throw accurate short passes or scrabble. It’s like we were in no mans land all night.

They should of blitzed more obviously. I mean they never punted all-night anyway. What's the worse that could of happened? The game gets in the 50's. So be it..

The worst that can happen is a 75 yard demoralizing TD run rather than making them earn it yard by yard. I was hoping for more blitz also and in the end we brought more of it.

Never punting is demoralizing.. I'd like to know how many teams have ever lost not punting all night.

We didn’t see the rb coming out of the backfield at all. That’s not on the play call, that’s on the players to account for that guy. I’m not a huge fan of Prevent unless up big but I don’t know what else you call on a 4th and 24. Our LBs (all 3 of them 🙄) can’t cover man to man and it’s painfully obvious at times. No way I’m relying on them to cover anyone man to man in that situation.

The funny thing is if he sends pressure the fans would be pissed about that if they convert. Pruitt’s defense would’ve never got Kentucky into a long yardage situation last night

The only thing I thought Heupel might try was straight man to man on Robinson. Put the best cover guy on him and play zone with the other guys.
