Vols vs SEC:
Record 2-0 (T-1st)
Points per game 46.5 (1st)
Points per game allowed 18.5 (7th)
Average margin of victory 26 (3rd)
1-0 vs ranked opponents (T-1st)

Just some other stats from the SEC through week 2
*UGA averages allowing a SEC leading 1.5 Points per game
*UF is the only SEC team to allow more points than they have scored (45-52)
*UF and A&M are the only teams that haven't scored at least 63 points through 2 games both have 45.
*UGA, Bama, Ole Miss and A&M all allow less than 10 Points per game.
*8 SEC teams remain undefeated

Not necessarily SEC related but kinda fun:
Notre Dame lost to Marshall
Vols next up Akron lost to Mich St 52-0
3 top 10 teams took a L this week (ND, A&M, Baylor)

Here are a couple more nice stats to consider:
  • The Vols defense pressured the QB 16 times yesterday, sacked them 4 times, and had 9 tackles for loss.
  • Hendon Hooker's last nine games -- five against ranked opponents -- he's completing 67% of his passes, averaging 9.4 yards-per-attempt, and has accounted for 26 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Yesterday may have been an off day for our offense, but they're still good enough to go on the road and outscore the defending ACC champion (thanks to the defense for making it easier to do).

Teams ranked above us that lost yesterday:

#6 A&M
#8 Notre Dame (who are now 0-2)
#9 Baylor
#12 Florida (said they didn't deserve this spot for beating an over-rated Utah squad)
#17 Pitt (that was us, we did that bit)
#19 Wisconsin.

We'll leap past two or three of those. Plus maybe Wake Forest and Miami.

Pencil us in for the #19 or #20 spot this week, AP.

Go Vols!

The first two posts on this thread point out the worthlessness of early season rankings.
I'm trusting Coach Heupel to use the Akron game to work out issues with our O-line and running game then ( hopefully) have a sufficient lead at the half to play everybody on the bench.
