THE Official UT vs. ULL BASKETBALL game thread

All I know...

72.2 pct from the FT line!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOO

:dance2::rock::clapping::dance::happy::w00t::yess::groupwave:

does anyone have Jujuan Smith's actual shooting percentage this year? Better yet his 3 point %? It seems like he's almost kind of a cancer on offense. I could be totally off because I don't know his actual shooting % but he just jacks stuff up left/right, and it seems like 8/10 shots are bricks.

My starting 5 would be:

1. Jordan Howell
2. Chris Loften
3. Ramar Smith
4. Tyler Smith
5. Duke Crews

bench in order:

6. Chism
7. JuJuan Smith
8. Josh Tabb
9. Childress

JaJuans FG % is 42.7%, His 3 pt % is 35.8 and his FT is 83.3%

Hardly a cancer, plus he has been hitting BIG shots when we needed them (like against Prairie View).

JaJuan was 2/2 from the 3 pt area tonight, and 2/3 from inside the arc.

100% from the 3pt and 80% overall...

Not too shabby.

i suppose he's not been as bad as it seems. I love the guy on defense and in the open court, i just don't like his tendency to jack up 3s almost selfishly sometimes. I have nothing against him at all.

He's not really jacking up three's. He's been taking the open shot the majority of the time. And when he's open he's a great shooter.
To start the MTSU game he went 5-5 from the 3 pt line before finally missing.

If Pearl started giving Howell more minutes than J. Smith, he should be fired and replaced with Wade Houston immediately.

Our students are a disgrace. If they can't come up with anything better than the long since outdated Newspaper/"Sucks" routine during opposition introductions, they should just shut the hell up. They should all be expelled if they persist in that idiocy.

You come up with something original and let us know. Until then, don't complain. The student section is a little weak right now. It seems to just be the same regulars every night. I'm hoping by time SEC games start, there will be much more students who will get more into the game and actually take advantage of that 6th man.

He's right. It is stupid. And pitiful. Especially when you are doing it against teams like freakin' ULL. They did it at the freakin' exhibition games too...

Here's a novel concept. Pay absolutely no attention to the opposition introductions. Of course, given the brilliance you scholars have come up with, I'm sure we'll see something mesmerizing soon.

So, you're admitting you guys are so pathetic that you have to turn to the alums for help? We've already footed the bill for completely revamping the arena. I would think the least you MENSA members could do is not make your school look silly.

The leaders of the 'Rocky Top Rowdies' are morons, simply. If you can try to get a hold of one of the sheets with their cheers on it during some game...

Terrible.

I don't care how stupid it is (which I'm not saying it's brilliant), it shouldn't matter who the opposing team is for you to perform it. That's like saying we shouldn't get into the game as much against ULL as we should against Florida of Kentucky.

It's amazing to me that these ridiculous "groups" have taken hold at UT. We had a group that attended games and supported the teams when I was in school. It was called the student body. Orange Nation, RTRs, et al are nothing more than junior league versions of the idiots in The Big Orange Army.

You can get into the game as much as you want. But harrassing a clearly inferior team that is here to basically give us a cup-cake win and help us warm up for our tough OOC games and our conference schedule...

It's just rude and stupid.

Which is why I am a member of none of them.

I do have the RTR shirt I got for free though. Nice shirt.

I find the overall lameness of the student section disturbing, especially since I sit in it. The problem is there is nothing natural or spontaneous about what "we" (and I mean that very loosely) do. It is organized and attempted to be dictated to us by the RTR's, also known as the Rocky Top Retards.

I'm also not a member of any of them. Rocky Top Rowdy's doesn't require membership, it's just the name of the student section.

Orange Nation for football is a joke though.

Re: newspaper/"sucks" pregame intros. There was a thread about this last year, and please, please for all that is good in the world, stop this right now. Those who do this are sheep following the ridiculous antics of the Cameron Crazy nerds. Cheer "sheets" are unnecessary and silly.

To Hat's suggestion - why not "lead" everyone in the entire arena in being absolutely dead silent while the other team is being introduced? Maybe even get everyone to put their heads in their laps or turn around and look the other way. I mean, no sound at all except the announcer and the few claps from the opposing team. That actually has a chance of rattling them somewhat, especially when the place erupts when our team is introduced. Booing, yelling "sucks," etc. - does anyone think that actually has a negative impact on the opponent?

The responsibilities of the student section are threefold: 1) to be loud - very, very, very loud, especially when the other team has the ball. 2) to cheer for our team, especially when the energy is down. 3) don't make us look like idiots.

Thanks.
