If he's played less than 30% of games to be played it would be stupid to put him in for token mop up minutes. He could get injured at some point and not be able to take a medical hardship. He wasn't needed in this game.

I have no idea if that has anything to do with it (or if that window is still open), but until he's lost that option it would make sense to preserve it just in case. Seems like McGhee hurt his foot and barely met the criteria a year ago.
