I hope this post can draw everyone to simply state "please stay" to Mr. Meachem. I understand that our boy has a tough decision that he is facing...however I would love for this thread to show him just how many folks would love to see him in Orange again next season. So with that being said...

Please Stay :crossfingers: Robert

He's going to do what's best for him and his family, which is probably taking his talent to the NFL. I'd love to see him playing for UT again next year as well, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Please, please please please and please. He is good enough to go now but another year would raise his stock through the roof. It worked for Herr Peyton.

Do what is best for you and your family Robert. That may very well mean staying another year. Either way good luck and thanks for being a Vol.

I understand he needs to do what is best for his family and make some money, however, Meachem probably will not be selected in the first round making his moeny take a hit.

If he were to stay next year and have a year comparable to this year, don't think it necessarily needs to be better but if its comparable then I believe he will be taken in the first round therefore increasing his salary and signing bonus.

So what's best for him?

Go ahead and stay and lead us to a SEC title!!!!!!!!!!

Plase stay Meach!

One more great season in college could raise him to a high first round choice, possibly the first wide receiver taken in the draft. That extra money that goes with each earlier pick could more than make up for coming out a season early when spread over a few years.

Plus the memories of an SEC championship season will last a lifetime.

I think he needs one more year to make him a first rounder. Untill this year, we did not see too much. He needs to show if this year was an abberation or the year before was an abberation. One more year of consistent play and the NFL will show him the money.

Put yourself in his shoes, what would you do? Yes his stock probably would rise if he stayed another year, but the money is on the table now. what if he got hurt nxt year what then? forget it i wouldn't blame him at all if he said peace out and went to the league.

Please Stay! Maybe he can do a Matt Leinart if he earns his degree before next year and just take Ballroom dance or sumthing. Ballroom dancing plus playing football for the big Orange, What could be better than that?

So many people on here have the right intentions but they assume that "doing what is best for him and his family" is going to the NFL. Our culture is to caught up in the now, now, now philosophy. If he is going to be an early 1st rounder with a big payday then its an obvious decision from a financial standpoint. But, if he is not going to be an early 1st rounder then patience will pay off for him. Do you want a medium size payday now, locking you up in that medium size contract for half a decade, or do you practice patience and get a big payday next season? You also assume the whole situation comes down to nothing but financial reasons. I can tell you he is considering more than that. He is a person with a deep faith and has said that will factor into his decision. Harrell's decision to stay last year had very little to do with money. He would have gotten paid well last season. There is a mental and emotional factor that is often lost on these young men when they see those flashing dollar signs. Harrell stayed because he said he wanted another year to get mentally and emotionally ready to "have a real NFL job."

Meachem has said he will pray and talk to him faimly about it. I am confident he will make a very good decision.

The thing is all the best WR's this year are juniors and will more then likely come out Meech, Ginn jr, Dewayne Jarrett, Calvin Johnson....The best SR wideout is Smarjedga(sp) at Notre Dame and teams are not sure to draft him in the first round because he also wants to play pro baseball....Meech is first round stuff and at worst 2nd round stuff but he is fast which teams are looking for...... if he comes back next year he will face double coverage and not put up the same numbers like he did this year

I am pretty sure that he has been doubled at most points this year and sometimes even tripled (LSU) . Being a senior he will have some incredible oppurtunities with Ainge.

I am no Mel Kiper, but I see him a late second rounder at best...with Ginn Jr., Manningham, C. Johnson, D. Jarrett, S. Smith, J. Smar, A. Allison...all of these guys are going to lock up the early rounds...it is a matter of $. And I think another year is the difference between being a #3 or #4 guy coming out this year to a #2 if he blows it up again next year.

But if he were to do the "insurance" thing and return to play with Ainge next year...it will be scary to see what these guys do...scary...

I just hope he stays...thats all...not to be selfish...but just to see him tear it up one more year...

I would love to see Meach come back. I will be a fan no matter but I think coming back would be good for his future. He needs to hone his skills on the press and get a little more physical.
