If our offensive line is dominant this year, our offense will be too, plain and simple. We have a lot of young guys, and some holes to fill. At this point there are several positions that are open to take, which are right tackle (because Eric Young switched to left), and both the guard positions. McNeil projects as the starting center. As spring practice goes on, the depth chart will probably change some on the o-line, and I think a thread would be the best way to keep up with it. That said, in your opinion who projects as the starting 5?

Chris Scott HAS to step up this year

my starting 5

E. Young
McClendon
McNeil
Parker
Scott

I think Ramone Foster and Darris Sawtelle could see some playing time too along with Cody Pope

Man I hope they show serious signs of improvement between now and Sept. I'd like yo see more holes and less contact in the back field this year.

Scott at right tackle bothers me a little bit. Big recruit but I haven't heard much about him.

came in as an all american. got too fat. redshirted, then last year he wasn't strong enough...I think that's how it went. But the guy has a ton of talent

I don't think Cody Pope sees more than a handful of snaps, if any, in 2007. Redshirt candidate, IMO.

Cody Pope's foot is broke, so all that experience he was going to get is gone. Pope and Sawtelle will almost be certainly be RS. It's hard to come in as a freshman and play many snaps on the OL.

Unless Sawtelle looks unbelievable at the tackle spot this spring, but I have not heard much about him

Actually, the early spring reports are that Eric Young is going to stay at right tackle. I see that as a sign of how much confidence they have in Scott. They said he is penciled in as the starter at left tackle (QB blindside) as of this moment.

RT-Young
RG- Parker
C- McNeil
LG- McClendon
LT- Scott

I like this group but they will still be young and not very deep. I would say the coaches would be happy with 8 or 9 total after Spring.

Our top 3 tackles are Young, Scott and Ramone Johnson. Our top 3 guards are McLendon, Parker, and Richard. Our center is McNeil and our utility OL is Foster.

That means that our depth will depend on the development of Johnson, Richard, and Foster. Those three have plenty of talent. We will have to wait and see if they can play at that talent level.

If our starting lineup was based on potential, Scott, Richard, McNeil, McLendon, and Johnson would be starters. Parker and Young have a good shot at getting the nod because of experience.

Wow I read elsewhere they were moving young to blindside they must have changed their minds. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside if they think Scott can handle it.

Young is very talented too. He was the second best lineman on the team last year.

All I know is, if we see blocking like what's shown on the spring practice pics (specifically #12), it's going to be a long year in Knoxville.
