The Official Northern Kentucky @ #12 Tennessee Game Thread (Tues. April 29th 6PM EDT SECNET+)

What an incredible experience. Just talked to Dylan for a solid 10 minutes. So gracious and cool. One of the bests to ever wear the orange and white. And Cal stopped by too!

Here's the thing with the student section... Where they are at isn't really the issue, its the type of setup they've given them that's so awful.

If the section were full it would do exactly what people wish it was doing now and add to the park. There's space for a lot more of them and their sound is focused back into the park. But I don't blame the students for their section being lightly used most nights.

In some corners of the internet, they'd refer to it as hostile architecture. I'll repeat what I said in the other thread...it looks like an area you'd wait in a long line for something, only less comfortable.

"Here you go students, stand on this concrete for 3+ hours with nowhere to move and nothing but a hip high metal rail in front of you. Enjoy!" It desperately needs to be fixed.

When the images were first released of the new student section it had a lot of positive reviews from a lot of us. It seemed like a natural for rowdy students, standing and causing havoc like you would see at a Duke basketball game. It didn’t work out and needs to be changed.

Only one on a throw, the other was originally called an error was a play trying to be made on the run and he never got the throw off, that is the one that was changed to a hit. Not sure how many people noticed, but was also playing with a taped up right hand. Also noticed they changed Bargo's hit against LSU on Saturday night to an error on Jones. That was changed after Sunday's game, so when somebody figures out who and how college scoring is done, would love to know.
I didn’t actually see the one in the first inning. I thought someone in the thread said it was a throw but I guess not. I saw in the play by play that one was changed to a hit so figured it wasn’t the throw after all.

Yes, the scoring (along with umpiring) in college is a big mystery!

I can almost see where someone thought they were going with it. Almost.

But then it looks like someone got a hold of it, said "Wait a minute, this block of tickets is our lowest revenue generator..." and stripped it down to an asinine level.

There are fixes UT could make that are both cost effective and fast. (Remove the rails and install drink rails...or allow them to bring in their own camp chairs or collapsible stools or damn buckets for crying out loud...)

I'm hoping the UTAD will make them before the end of the season or at least do something to make the experience better for the students until a long term fix is determined.

I am hoping for more of an Evangelical Arminianism AI in the Wesleyan tradition. Calvinist AI would be frightening to me. 😜
The nerd in me loves the idea of a dependable, large language model tool for research and casual curiosity!

But since that scene in The Garden, there seems to be a distinct fork in the road choice on which is smarter: to value what-you-know, or to value Who-you-know.
