The Official NKU @ Tennessee Game Thread (Tues. 4/7 6PM ET SECNET+)

Levi likely leads the team in hard hit outs. His luck has been awful at the plate. His swing plane looks much better than earlier in the season.

Um,
He is hitting .175
Make all the excuses you want, it's an automatic out
Not a good 1B
We have 2 other good catchers now in Stone and Wright
and others such as Myatt Grindlinger and even Ice have better swings

Tired of the wild over swing pops ups

B
Seems like we gave up on Newstrom pretty quick. Yet Brown continues to stay in the lineup.
Brown hits, ok this season with some pop

Clark is just not good, has just declined since the SEC slate began last season
but Josh will not make that change lol
Things could get ugly this weekend
Need another bat

Ummm. Clark is actually hitting .250 in SEC which is (sadly) the 3rd highest. National scouts and others think he’s going to be very good. He’s a young Sophomore and inexperienced but will improve. You do know Lawless is out for the foreseeable future with a broken nose and orbital fracture? He might play before the season ends but no guarantees. I’m sure you were quick to throw CMO, Burke, Tears, Ensley, and others under the bus when they struggled their Sophomore years too.

going to be?
who cares
he is tanking

Josh has basically benched Jay and some "others" as you say - but Levi gets a pass?
Put Grimmer at 1st and Myatt at 2B

Comparing Levi to CMO and Burke is funny

Which SEC team has the most returning players?

They struggled as Sophomores as well. I see much improvement in Clark’s ABs and so do others that know. It’s funny that you think Myatt is performing g better than Clark. He’s not.

Great question…I’m waiting until 1/2 mark thru SEC season and will include more details in a future blog, but as of now:

Returning Production (RP):
Top 2 are FL and TX.
Bottom 2 are Missouri and SC

Interestingly, FL is currently tied for 4th in SEC and TX is #2. Missouri is currently 15th in SEC and SC is last in SEC standings which is identical to their Returning Production rankings. TN is 13th in RP and currently 14th in standings.

I’m not sure Wright is ready to catch 2 out of 3 games , Taylor is more locked in than I am , Grimmer has been ok at second base , I know 2/3’s of our lineup has struggled mightily the last 3 weekends , Ford is under 200 in league play , he’s really struggled since being sick and started the team epidemic of chasing bad pitches , Brown reminds me of Burke as a sophomore who chased a ton of bad pitches , this weekend could be ugly if our guys can’t get it together , we’re 4-8 and could easily be 8-4 with some better bullpen work or better offense
Wright will beg Elander to catch every game as he LOVES being behind the plate. The hamate bone is supposedly healed so it’s just a pain tolerance thing right now. Judging by how Wright handles getting hit by pitches with no guard, I bet he’s ok with the pain. That kid is a gamer! 🍊👊👍😀😀🍊👍🍊🍊👊👊👍

I was walking through my bedroom in the middle of the night last night after letting the dog go outside and rammed my thigh into the corner of the footboard on my bed. It hurt like hell, and while I was cursing and writhing in pain, my first thought was "Shout out to Garrett Wright; this pain is nothing to him." 😄

I would argue Ford has made more hard outs than anyone we have but Levi has been better in league play , I’d like to see more patience at the plate and hunt pitches to do damage with , it’s hard to hit with 2 strikes and I get chasing some with 2 strikes but it makes no sense to swing at a dirt ball with a 2-0 count , I think we may have to get 7 or 8 innings from our starters and use less bullpen
